Duke has successfully created a time machine! He has used it to return to his youth many times and play the games he loved so much at Overdrive Arcade. Although he has found joy in this, it still isn’t enough to calm his eager spirit for adventure. Duke has decided to invite players at to come back in time with him to Overdrive Acrcade in an attempt to beat his high scores and compete for a grand prize. This is one of the best escape rooms we have ever experienced and we’ve done the research. It’s locally owned and operated and you can tell that it’s a labor of love. There were 4 of us, with one newbie. We did the 80s themed arcade (level of difficulty 4 out of 5). The level of detail and dedication to a theme is one of the best I’ve seen. In this room exists every level of puzzle from a key lock, to number lock, to arcade games, doors that open after an object gets put into place…ALMOST every part of the room(s) get used. There was little fluff! Sarah was awesome and I want to travel back to Granbury to experience their other rooms too. Unlike many places, Sarah welcomed us to look around. This place has rooms for all age and skill levels. They offer a 30min room for beginners as well as a 2-person room. There are various themes including themes of a more frightening nature. If you’re not into that, there is the science lab or going back in time to the gold rush. This place was one of the most engaging and challenging places we’ve visited. Don’t read this was the hardest—in fact, the puzzles are all do-able. You just have to think—it’s no fun if it can’t be solved. The owners know this. They seem to be dedicated to making it fun for their guests and I love that.

Gameplay

This was very inventive and innovative in their design and use of theme. It flowed pretty well, but you have to observant to understand what parts go with which puzzle to move forward. Lots of pieces/puzzles to find to move to the next phase—good for larger groups.

The game was fun and fairly easy. It doesn’t start out linear, but then becomes linear with only one person doing something. If you enjoy a flash back to the past and video games you will enjoy this room.
