Lab Rat takes place in a laboratory where giant rats are doing odd experiments on human beings, specifically you! The somewhat unhinged Ratkenstein, a doctoral student in the field of human intelligence (or, in his estimation, the lack thereof), has tasked you with completing a series of tests and puzzles. If you succeed, he can finally write his dissertation. If you fail, he’s going to put you and your friends in the old test-subject chipper (like a wood chipper, but for test subjects!). You’ll have one hour to complete the tests and attempt to get out of the laboratory for good, before Ratkenstein turns you into mulch!

This was just plain FUN. I was laughing the whole time at the comedy of it all; it’s not corny it’s like the clever type of humor adults will get a kick out of. The puzzles were interesting and had some really fun elements that left me wanting more. The story is funny and the production was so fun and engaging. I really loved this!

This is probably one of the more difficult escape rooms I have done ever, because everything in the room is not all as it seems. The room requires a lot of concentration and be observant because this room will test your skills a lot to solve its puzzles.

We had a great time. It was not quite as elite as I expected but it was a lot of fun and some of the puzzles were innovative. The story didn’t tie into puzzles well. It was a very fun escape room but it wasn’t life altering by any means.

It’s no wonder this escape room is ranked on TERPECA. Easily a top escape room. You’ll actually feel like a rat in a maze at times! The tech and plot are super fun. Incorporates almost all 5 senses. Lots of group work but also multilinear. Very fun!

Overall I loved the set design and story for this room, which is why it earned a ❤️. My only disappointment in this room was that it wasn’t more challenging. I wish it had more puzzles in it and more challenging puzzles. Also, our group easily tripped something that caused us to have to exit the room while the GM reset a bunch of things, so I wish they better protected that thing from unintentionally being triggered too early. But I would certainly recommend this room to anyone for the novelty of the story and the great set design.

One of our players touched something in the first room that caused all doors to open and the game to break, so the GM had to come in, kick us out of the room temporarily, and reset the room. Then we came back in and started over. It seems like there are multiple ways they could have prevented us touching something early from prematurely activating a bunch of things in the room. But overall it was a small setback since it happened right at the beginning of our game.

There are a couple puzzles that would be difficult/impossible for a physically impaired person who has difficulty walking or climbing. But as long as one person in the group can do that part, you should be fine.

Lab Rat is very well done. The theatrics were incredible. All the pieces were handmade! There was so much to do in this escape room. The puzzles were challenging, but fun! I would definitely recommend this to anyone thinking about doing it!
