So this may be a “you get what you pay for.” This isn’t a good escape room. There’s no theme or decor or plot. There are no large & intricate puzzles. You’ll likely have to play with strangers which I don’t enjoy. But at only $10 a person, I’m still of the mindset that a weak escape room is better than no escape room. If you love puzzles and want to kill an hour on your cruise there are worse ways… I just can’t give this room the same “like” rating I’ve given some far superior rooms.

Gameplay

There were a couple of fun puzzles in this room, but the whole experience was brought way down by the fact that one of the “puzzles” was just finding a bunch of keys that were hidden round the room under tables and chairs. That was a huge time suck and not fun. Unless you have a large group, you will also likely be playing this game with strangers and that can be really awkward, especially when they are struggling but you don’t want to be a bully and take over everything.

Atmosphere

It’s folding tables and chairs in an empty room.

Customer service

Our room host was perfectly friendly but he definitely wasn’t a typical game master. He didn’t give clues or anything. He was more or less there to babysit us and watch the timer.

Difficulty

Medium

I considered giving a hard rating but not necessarily because of puzzle difficulty. It’s hard because it’s only 50 minutes to do a lot of puzzles… with strangers. You more or less have to dole them out to the huge group of people the cruise line sold tickets to and it’s not necessarily the people who would be good at those puzzles.

There were a lot of puzzles, several which could be worked simultaneously so it does support a large group… and if you don’t come in with a large group you will get joined by randos.

40 escape rooms

It was hard to find descriptions of this game online. Essentially, there were boxes with games in them that were locked… unlock the boxes, take out the puzzles, solve the puzzles, tie the individual games back together in the last puzzle, escape. We were allowed to play with 5 ppl instead of the minimum of 6, including a couple of beginners, and we still finished with over 8 min to spare in a 45 min room. I personally prefer the full escape rooms that The Escape Game made for some of the other RC ships, but Puzzle Break did an ok job of this (didn’t mind the $10 price tag, but would have preferred to have seen it free).

I get that it’s a room with 6 tables a 1-2 puzzles each, but the “story” was completely carried by the game master. Very much not a standard escape room.

Customer service

Very welcoming! Only issue is that his talking was ongoing to the point of not being able to focus on the puzzles

Could have completed it with my son and myself if given a little more time.

Located just inside of Adventure Ocean to the right… only signage is an 8x11 laminated sign outside of the glass room (see pics).
