The 1800s California gold rush was a time when just about anyone could get lucky with a fortune. No one knew this better than your recently deceased relative, Clyde Hamilton. Though he’s since passed, the prospector left behind quite a pretty penny in gold. As his surviving next of kin, he’s offered you a chance to claim the gold fortune as an inheritance for yourself…if you can find it! You’ve only got 60 minutes to get into Clyde’s cabin and take the gold stash before news of the fortune reaches other greedy ears in town…

This game was well themed but had two Achilles heels. One of the puzzles relies on a method of interaction that was highly unreliable which made it essentially impossible. We wasted 10 minutes before the GM asked if we wanted to skip that puzzle, and they later told us most teams skip it. Another puzzle gives you a certain amount of something, which was not nearly enough to accomplish what you needed to do with it (not that there was waste, there just wasn’t enough to begin with, or the puzzle was set up wrong). Either way it left us having to guess half of the solution. It’s a shame because the rest of the room was so well done, but these ruined the experience. This is the first room at the Escape Game Lynnfield that I wouldn’t recommend.

Gameplay

Two puzzles were not ‘broken’ per-se, but were rendered unreliable/impossible.

Great theming

Customer service

GM was good, but should have helped with the janky puzzle sooner since it wasn’t us doing something wrong, it was the mechanism being completely unreliable.

Not a game design we like much, had to solve one puzzle before moving onto another, can't have things going simultaneously which makes it not great for a larger group. We had 4 people and felt like 2-3 would've been better, cannot imagine how hands off most people would be if there were 6+ of us. One physical thing we had to do to advance in the room was not well designed and took us the majority of the time to pass this one step due to poor vision

The escape game has amazing room design. Very beautiful, and thematic. The gameplay was a bit linear. With 4 players there were a handful of times where only 1 player could be working as completing the puzzle was required before anything else could be done
