Trapped In Neverland

This was my first experience with The Escape Company and it was not great. The puzzles erre either too vague and required such a big leap to get to the solution or spelled it out for you with no extra thinking. Then you tag on that this place still believes in limiting clues, we were nervous to ask for any help. When we did get help we were not nudged in the correct direction we were told how to solve the puzzle, which was not satisfying. Some of the puzzles were clever concepts but did not deliver in this execution. I do appreciate a non-linear game but when I’m collecting an unknown number of items I hate wasting time staring at something that I don’t have enough of but nothing tells me how much I will get of it so I simply try to connect that item to every little thing as it comes! This is not a ding to the staff, our GM was very kind and seemed to enjoy his job and we appreciate his help.

This is such a magical room! The story was super cute! I love rooms that are not lock or combination focused!

Overall, this room has the potential to honestly be a very solid 9/10 experience. This is a room that features no word or digit locks, but finds creative ways for players to solve puzzles that advance themselves in the experience. The theming is great, the atmosphere is very creative and the difficulty was just where it needed to be for two intermediate-level players. Unfortunately, execution was lacking. Several (at least 3 times) puzzles did not activate when we solved them correctly the first time, leading to us solving it incorrectly and being thrown off, only to have the game master come over the speaker and say “try this to make it trigger.” One puzzle in particular was a “wrong answer” when the clue was directly pointed at…it felt more just intentionally misleading than attempting to be deceiving. The staff was friendly, and it was a very busy day between two GMs. I have to say, however, we attempted to ask for a nudge for over 3-4 minutes by waving our hands and asking for a clue, only to not receive a response. It took away from time needed and frustrated a bit. Overall, this is a 6.5/10 experience but has so much room to be amazing, if the execution was better.

A huge improvement over the last game in this space, with some clever puzzles. Unfortunately, it's lacking signposting so flow suffers, and a number of things didn't trigger correctly. The GM was nice but needs better training - she junped in multiple times with a nudge for something we already did.

Very fun and non linear. Interactive puzzles rather than code locks.

There were a couple of things that didn’t work properly, but they are working out the kinks and super nice and helpful. Would definitely recommend!
