Le Plan [Escape Plan]

I had the BEST time in this room. The negative reviews baffle me. Just give yourself over to it and don’t be afraid to interact with the people you encounter they are very skilled and it will only deepen the gameplay for you. 10/10. One of my favourites sometimes I forget puzzles I’ve done in other games even if I love them but the moments we created while playing this game will truly stick with me.

I spent a considerable amount of time debating whether to give this game a thumbs down or simply leave it blank. However, after comparing my experience to that of several friends who had recently played it, I realized that my experience was significantly less engaging and interactive than theirs, which ultimately led me to give the game a thumbs down. Everyone I spoke with was encouraged to engage in creative scenarios, develop their own solutions, and make meaningful decisions throughout the game. My experience was quite different. Our actors delivered low energy, monotonous monologues, and frequently dictated our actions. Although they occasionally asked for our input, we were rarely given the opportunity to come up with innovative solutions or make meaningful decisions of our own. Instead, we were often simply told what to do. As a result, the game felt like it was on rails and lacked the creativity and player agency I expected from a social engineering game of this nature. I would have appreciated more plot twists that introduced unexpected challenges and setbacks. The game seemed to progress in a fairly predictable manner, which made it feel less engaging and exciting. While I commend Escaparium for attempting something novel with this game, the quality and delivery of the performances ultimately resulted in a disappointing experience.

As mentioned in the breakdown, this game is not your normal escape room, you need to interact with actors and deal with situational issues. I had a great time with my friends but people who don't like this type of games may have a different experience.

I was really disappointed... way too simple. Not an escape game at all. It was like a play where we were made to rehearse a script and then act out what we’d rehearsed. It was very uninteresting. Maybe it’s okay as a first experience to show someone how it works, but as an experienced player, it wasn’t very interesting.

Thumbs up as an experience, they executed what they set out to do incredibly well. Thumbs down as an escape room (or at least what I conceptualize as an escape room). I think this really has to do with who you are and who you go with. If you and your group enjoy improv and immersive theatre with actor interaction, this will be a top-notch experience for you. If you need puzzles in your escape room, this experience is not for you. There were times where we had to brainstorm and plan on what to do, but it’s not really a puzzle and the majority of the time you are guided heavily to what to do (there is no real failing or doing something they don’t want you to do) Overall I enjoyed my time there, I love immersive escape rooms and actor interactions. But they are not lying on their website when they say this is not an escape room (or at least not how most people think of one). I do question whether you remove the Escaparium branding, if this would have got the award placement it did, but then again escape rooms are leaning towards this type of experience.

This game was unlike any escape room we had played before. It was such a clever and unique experience, requiring players to put themselves in the shoes of prisoners and having to use practical solutions and street smarts to escape. The fact that the set, the atmosphere, and the acting were all top-notch made it easy for us to really lean into the game's design. I can see why it will likely be polarising as it has no traditional puzzles and relies heavily on interactions with the actors, and that in turn depends on people's ability to immerse themselves in the story and really focus on thinking of it as a real-life situation. For our family at least, this was one of our most enjoyable and memorable escape room experiences to date.

This was a lot of fun and very different than the usual escape room. I would describe this more like an experience than an escape room, but that is not a bad thing, I had A LOT of fun here and I honestly wish it would be even longer. They could maybe just make the story a little more dynamic and be open to more ways of solving the problems. The actors we got were great and I would like to thank all of them for the experience they provided us!

No puzzles in the traditional sense, rather your puzzles are social and situational related. It is interesting and fun to channel your inner improv. At times, we were not sure what was capable in the world we were in, and although we provided seemingly logical solutions, we got shut down at times. That being said, it is well worth the experience for something unique and fun!

Agree with a lot of the other reviews. No traditional puzzles. You are definitely pushed into a direction but the fun is thinking of what to do before you are pushed in that direction. A fun change of pace if you are ploughing through traditional style rooms. Cost is more probably bc of the number of actors involved. 8.2/10

This is not an escape room. Marketing it as such is deceitful. This is participatory theater. You become characters in a story, acting out the roles that are fed to you by the other actors. There are almost no real puzzles to speak of. You're asked to devise an escape plan, but you're limited because you don't know all the rules of the in-game world, so the actors must feed them to you. And while there are multiple ways you could approach certain situations, they're limited and it all feels scripted, and you have to follow the script. It never felt like we had true agency. If you like participatory theater, performing on demand, improv, etc., this might appeal to you. If you enjoy escape rooms for the challenge of solving puzzles, it will probably not. Honestly, I feel cheated by a bait-and-switch.
