This was our first experience with this chain - we did this room and “Ruins: Forbidden Treasure”.
The sets are amazing, and that’s a big part of what this company is known for - they’ve got dozens and dozens of locations and a large central facility for designing and building props/sets, so they really are next-level. Very immersive, very high-quality, and some very unique/higher-tech props.
Of the two rooms we did, we enjoyed this one much more. The puzzles felt logical, the room had a good progression/flow, and it had a good mix of mental and physical puzzle-solving. The puzzles are mostly prop/mechanical manipulation instead of locks or ciphers, and there were some really clever things we hadn’t seen before. I’m not a huge fan of space-themed games, but I enjoyed this room a lot more than I thought I would because of the gameplay itself. Also had a cleverly-integrated hint system.
The front desk staff and GM were very friendly, but there’s definitely a corporate feel and an in-person push to re-book for a discount or purchase a discounted gift card (although they are good deals). Also REALLY not a fan of public bookings - we intentionally went at an off time to reduce the chance of having to share the experience with strangers, but it was awkward to stand at their counter in the mall waiting for our game time while hoping nobody else walked up wanting to join 😂You can obviously buy out the other spots for your time slot, but that’s just too expensive for two people IMO. I can understand the profit motive behind it, it’ll just make me a lot more selective about when I go.
Definitely planning to do the rest of their rooms.
