You are Robert Montgomerie, the only remaining direct heir to the Kildermorie Estate and the Montgomerie family fortune. You’re attending a family gathering hosted by your Grandfather, Hugh ‘Monty’ Montgomerie, the 9th Earl of Kildermorie, to celebrate the dawn of the new Millennium. As the guests raise a toast, a scream fills the air…and your Grandfather is found dead in the library. It looks like MURDER, and as the direct heir, all fingers are now pointed at you! Will hidden clues reveal distant family secrets? With the police on their way, can you gather enough evidence and piece the story together to prove your innocence? And the biggest challenge of all: Is it even remotely possible to solve the mystery before the clock strikes 12?

6th Escapology room overall and 3rd time at their Glenview location…Mansion Murder was a solid room. Room is supposedly their most difficult, so we asked for a few hints in the first half when we spun our wheels slightly, but did not need any nudges for the second half of the experience when we started cooking. Overall, after you get past a certain part in the 1st room, there is very good flow. Room set and design was solid overall and puzzles were fun/fair, but nothing that really stood out. Customer service from the host and GM were great as usual at this Glenview location. We had a lot of fun and will be back at Escapology’s Glenview location (which is far better than other Escapology locations) for another room.

Surprisingly, this was my first time at an Escapology! I was impressed, the rooms were really well-maintained, the staff was cheerful, and the puzzles were fresh and engaging. This is supposedly the hardest room at this location, and there were def a couple of puzzles that almost stumped us. We were actually the first-ever team to complete the room without any hints. I wouldn’t recommend this room for a first-timer, but is great for a seasoned puzzle head, with a couple of the puzzles leaning heavier toward logic and reading comprehension. My only issue with this room was the ending, which was unceremonious. This isn’t a spoiler because they tell you the ending during the intro to the room: punch in a six-digit code on the keypad next to the door and you win. It doesn’t fit the theme of the room at all, and isn’t particularly celebratory either.
