Alice in Wonderland

Leaving a review to share our experience since we left feeling pretty frustrated with the game flow. On the positive side, the room itself looked great—the decorations and overall theme were really well done, and you can tell care went into the set design. However, the actual puzzle logic was a huge letdown for us: Confusing puzzle flow: We struggled to figure out how one puzzle was supposed to lead to the next. The connections felt completely random rather than clever or intuitive. "Just guess" gameplay: When we asked for guidance, we were literally told that you kind of just have to guess what to do and try everything. Having to rely on brute force and random trial-and-error completely took the fun out of solving things. It’s a bummer because the room has great visual potential, but without clear logic or satisfying signposting between steps, it just felt tedious instead of rewarding. Really hope they rework the puzzle connections to make the flow make sense

One thing I’ve noticed that Escape Games La Quinta does well is puzzles. The puzzles at this location are no slouch, and this game is no exception. A mark of good puzzle design is knowing exactly what to do and figuring out how to do it. One of the puzzles in here fit that description to a T. I understand this puzzle isn’t for everyone, but it was a joy to learn the mechanics and solve. An easy standout puzzle for this location. More difficult puzzling, thoughtful use of sound.

We played the Alice in Wonderland escape room and found it to be just okay overall. It’s a non-linear, fully electronic room with no traditional mechanical locks (one puzzle had a setup error and was glitzy). A lot of matching colors, sounds, smells. There were 2 logic puzzles that really required some brain power (think SAT ordering questions). After solving puzzles, you need to pay attention to the overhead instructions—they often guide you on what to do next. We played as a group of two, didn’t use any hints, and escaped with about 20 minutes left, so the difficulty felt moderate. Overall, it had some creative elements and the setup is very immersive. Good for newer escape room players and kids.

Fun and well-themed escape room that was mostly nonlinear. There were no traditional locks, so there will be unique puzzles that you have not seen before. Many of the puzzles had fun answers and the design of the rooms were great. It was relatively limited space-wise, so I would not recommend this room for larger groups. The room was also rated harder than it should be. Majority of the puzzles were easy-medium difficulty without any incredibly satisfying solutions. Overall, it is a fun themed escape room that small groups will enjoy, but if you are looking for a big challenge or a room for large groups, there are other better options in the desert.
