This is my favorite Christmas escape room. There are a surprising amount of Christmas games, yet this is the only one that I felt used as much of the holiday as it could. The game keeps finding new ways to use Christmas traditions, has really charming interactions with characters (some recorded, some live), and it all leads to a hilarious sequence right at the end of the game… that didn’t really feel like a finale, I wish it happened more towards the middle and was fleshed out more. That is my one notable complaint with the game. Everything else is just really fun Christmas themed scenes and puzzles. It’s far from the best escape room out there, but it’s certainly the best Christmas one (I’ve played). Definitely try this one out if you’re here and love Christmas! (Oh yeah I do have one more notable complaint. You have to put the majority of the codes into the same device, which is really annoying the 2nd time you do it because it’s not signposted well that you ever have to go back to that same thing again. Also it means that you’re not exploring and unlocking anything more in the room and instead just doing the same thing over and over again. Also it’s a really weird device to work with and makes you feel like you’re not inputting things correctly even if you are. It’s also the least Christmas thing about the game. Wow, this one input device is annoying in every way.) Escape Artist Greenville Ranking 0. Chimera Corp Saga 1. Dark Lullaby 2. Castle Fluffendor 3. Help Wanted (gap in quality) 4. Starlight Motel (big gap in quality) 5. Yuletide Magic 6. Classified (big gap in quality) 7. Dr. Fratelli’s Cabin 8. Inventor's Enigma

Not quite sure why this is the only Escape Artists Greenville with a 4 booking minimum it doesn’t fit many more people than that and you can definitely go with less.

It didn’t even matter that it was 80 degrees outside in the middle of April, when we entered this room, we were right in the Christmas spirit. This game did a great job of mixing in some fun puzzles with some cute storytelling along the way.

Do you love the holidays? Do you wanna build a snowman? Are you crazy like us and just keep Christmas lights on throughout the year? Then Yuletide Magic is for you! This was a cozy delightful room that brought us holiday cheer in February. The puzzles are actually quite clever and involved for a Christmas room. There is even a special interaction that brought us laughter and joy. As I’ve heard, this room is actually year-round and not seasonal. This means that anytime is a good time to keep that Yuletide Magic alive! Let those holiday lights shine! Ho ho ho!

Jane and I have done only one other Christmas themed room (which was a very well done room) but this one takes the cake. Clever, fun puzzles. Terrific story telling. Imaginative usage of props, technology and music to create a rich and festive Christmas atmosphere. Logical flow. Also all the rooms at this venue involve live interaction with actors and this one was no exception. But the way it was done was particularly satisfying, and I say so having done many rooms with live actors. The staff were incredible. Even as one of their less popular rooms, this room hits a high benchmark that underscores Escape artists Greenville as one of the best venues in the country. Fully recommend this room. Room finish: No hints, 55 mins.

C.U.T.E. ... What's with the Carolina market and cuteness? This room had a surprising number of fun, whimsical puzzles and even actor moments. Really good small set. Acting (Audrey) was tops. Definitely do this if you have the time! My personal ranking of the 5 games at the downtown location as of August '25: 1. Classified: Operation Nine Lives (just too silly not to be my #1 here. No flaws, but it's too easy with 4, I think.) 2. Starlight Motel (excellent flow and plotting, tight with good acting moments, puzzles were just OK - a superior game to Classified, but silliness wins :) ) 3. Yuletide Magic (fun, surprisingly good puzzles and Christmasy vibes) 4. Dr. Fratelli's Cabin (Very (too) easy. A great puzzle toward the end. Good beginner game... or solo game. We finished in 24 mins as 4 people. Skippable if you're low on time) 5. Inventor's Enigma (A unique puzzle at the end, but most puzzles were too simple. Relatively easy overall, might be a good beginner room. Skippable if you're low on time)

The gameplay of Yuletide Magic was nice-- the puzzles were solid and fit the theme well. Despite it being a Christmas theme, we enjoyed it in the middle of summer. The futuristic home automation system used for solution input felt distinctly out of place in the 1950s-era home decor, and not in a swank, retro-future way. The art direction and set design just felt dated and worn, like I was doing an escape room in someone's grandmother's basement. If that's what they were going for, they nailed it, but for me it created a depressing aura I couldn't quite shake despite the jaunty Christmas trappings.

Gameplay

There's a particularly fun use of special goggles that we enjoyed.

Atmosphere

They nailed the 1950s vibe, but for me that made it feel cheap, dated, and worn rather than fun.
