Years ago, there was a city now almost forgotten: Baltonia. A colossal disaster reduced it to ashes. Buildings collapsed, the sky turned black, and a chasm opened in the ground, releasing a lethal gas that transformed any living being who inhaled it into a mindless creature. From that horror were born the Devourers of Ruins: aberrations fueled by chaos, death, and suffering. They announced their presence with vibrations and inhuman sounds. They had no purpose other than to kill and devour for pleasure. The military forces tried to contain the threat but failed. Only remnants of equipment and lost transmissions remained scattered among the ruins. With Baltonia on the brink of extinction, a small group of survivors, supported by an organization specializing in the unexplained — Zeta Corporation — ventured into the city in search of a solution. They discovered something crucial: the Devourers could only be exterminated with an intense, blinding light. They activated an ancient generator hidden in the depths and managed to destroy one of the creatures. But the energy ran out. The light went out. Darkness returned. Within seconds, they were surrounded. Everyone died… except one.

We messed up our booking (we chose the previous month due to the site's UX) and didn't realize it until we were onsite, but the staff was very understanding and graciously allowed us to rebook. This is a fairly ambitious game that feels like it still has some wrinkles to iron out. There are some wow moments, and the set is large and feels immersive, but some puzzles didn't click with us. It felt like the designer was aiming for diegetic lighting (i.e. only light sources that actually exist in the built space like desk lamps or street signs), but I think they went too far and forgot about playability (i.e. it was too dark to see important details). And while the theme was post-apocalyptic, parts of the set felt like actual trash heaps rather than interestingly curated trash-like heaps.

4 enthusiasts was fine, 2-3 would probably also be OK. One area seemed like it would be hard to fit more than 4 in comfortably.

More Spooky than Scary, but I'll err on the side of caution
