1st time visiting Escapology’s newly opened Naperville location and it was a great experience. Brand new facility so the waiting area and room were in perfect condition. A Pirates Curse was one of Escapology’s better games (still like Haunted House the best), as there is a good mix of tech and locks within the room, and the pirate ship atmosphere is well done. The room is pretty straightforward and we never felt rushed so it was fun working through all the different puzzles. I especially like that this location provides flashlights and an e-notepad as there were a few puzzles where both came in handy. Anthony (GM and part owner) was very friendly and fun to talk with before/after. Anthony gave us a few nudges when we spun our wheels on something we figured out but did not know how to 100% complete. We had a fun time!

Definitely on the easier side of the games we have played. Pretty good mix of locks and actual technology. The storyline made sense and didn’t have us just guessing. The game was linear but there was still plenty of things for us to do as a larger group. One negative we had with the game was there was a specific puzzle that required a big tug which is usually something we are told to shy away from (2 finger touch). That definitely delayed us a while. Overall we had a good time, but it wasn’t the best game we’ve played. 67/100

Gameplay

Flowed well, each puzzle wasn’t just on a whim it made sense for why we were doing it.

Atmosphere

Set design was good; one major flaw that cost us a good amount of time.

I enjoyed this room. The game master was helpful and polite. There is a couple of cool puzzles that I had not seen before. I liked the atmosphere and there were multiple rooms. I would recommend this game.
