Closing October 31 - On that fateful day, the lights went out and the whispers started. June 6th, 1986, was supposed to be just another weekend detention. What happened that night at Shady Valley High remains a mystery that we can solve together amidst the Trapper Keepers and cassette tapes, the hair spray and Rubik's cubes, the gnarly and the totally awesome.

7/10 I highly recommend reading the entirety of this review to maximize your experience at 1986-6-6. This is NOT an escape room. This is immersive theater with minor puzzle solving elements. The entirety of your two hours will be utilized regardless of how fast your puzzle solving abilities are. For the extroverts that enjoy group projects and mingling with strangers, this is the game for you. Introverts that prefer the solidarity of solving puzzles on their own and having as few people to interact with as possible, this is NOT the experience you are looking for. (I would give this experience a ❤️ but I’m far too introverted for this sort of thing.) You and 11 other players will interact with 4 actors over the course of 2 hours (Yes, 15 to 18 people in one space. It will become chaotic and overcrowded). 90 minutes is watching the actors exposition dump and 30 minutes is solving painfully easy puzzles (example: here is code - input code here). Your hand will be held at all times leaving you very little time to explore for yourself. In most experiences, you the player are the main character fighting against the trails and tribulations that have been laid before you in order to earn your “escape”. 1986-6-6, the actors are the main characters and you, a by standard, are watching their journey fighting against the antagonistic powers that be. The 12 players are almost NPCs at some points. Now, I applaud and appreciate what 1986-6-6 is trying to do here. They are taking chances and trying to bring something different to the table. So for those of you interested in giving your time and money to this experience, here is what I recommend to help maximize your enjoyment: • Leave all escape room expectations at the door. Remember, this is immersive theater. Prepare yourself for long cut scenes and large interactions with the actors. • You will miss out on a majority of what is happening. This is by design in order to get people to come back and play different characters. • Let the actors pull you in directions. There will be times you are taken away from your puzzle for cutscenes and exposition. You will be returned back to where you left off. • If practical, bring as many people you know as possible. This will be a far better experience with friends/family rather than strangers. (Sometimes strangers don’t play well with others.) • The actors are damn good. Let them do their thing and in return your experience will be far more enriching. Play along, jest, jab, and immerse yourself in your customizable character. It’s worth it if this is your thing and are looking for a company trying something new in the immersive theater/escape room realm. The minor details are fantastic, the set is pretty big for this type of experience, and it’s fairly well thought out for how goofy it all tends to be. Keep an open mind and give it a shot.

This was absolutely an amazing experience ! Everyone should do this if you are visiting or live in La ! Really a great blast to the past and really felt like I was the 80’s ! I highly recommend this ! Really enjoyable A mix between a little bit of escaping with puzzles, but also mostly an immersive experience! Huge prop to the actors! Make sure you bring yourself some water !

This was so silly and fun. I loved how there was a central theme (and it made sense, even though it was nuts!), and we had a group mission and individual missions that required us to follow the storyline and go of on our own and make relationships with other attendees. The overall organizational structure and flow of how they set that up was very cute and stayed in theme. The actors were a real treat and had us engaging in fun and silly ways. I very much recommend this experience!

I went in completely blind about this experience and I’m not mad about it. It made all the little surprises that much more enjoyable. But, if you’re wanting to know a little more — the best way to describe this would be half immersive experience half escape room. Truly was so silly, fun, chaotic, and funny. Definitely designed to be a nostalgia bomb. In terms of puzzles, if you’re escape room people this will be a walk in the park, but it’s not the point of it. The actors I commend y’all. There was so much going on between monitoring audience members, interacting with whatever audience threw at you, controlling the puzzles and getting narrative out. Everyone handled it with humor and flexibility. What a fun, delightful time. You HAVE to interact with people (actors and fellow audience members alike). So if that’s not your jam, this will be challenging. But I recommend getting outside of yourself and letting go. It’s created for you to have a silly, fun time. The only thing I wished was that there were a few less audience members. It would get to be a lot when moving around at times. However, there are SO many routes you could take, you can come back and do it again and again and again. What a new, creative way to this genre. Excelsior!!
