Permanently Closed - The night was icy cold and you could hear the howling of the wind. It's been a long hike for you and your friends and since you noticed a storm on the horizon, more than ever, you needed to get home. After discovering your car has been tampered with and a lack of cell reception due to the oncoming weather, you are left with few options. After wandering along a crooked path you discover a house at the end of the trail. Hopeful for refuge or at least an opportunity to call for help you enter. Fear comes over you as you realize things are not what they seem. Welcome to The Cromwell Estate.

I really loved this escape room and it was one of my favorites! So sad that it closed. There was a scare actor and she was intense, but she made the room so much more immersive for the theme of being at the “Cromwell Estate” in the winter time. The puzzles were challenging, but manageable and there were multiple rooms, so the experience was a lot of fun! The storyline was cohesive, the game master was helpful and in character, and the escape room really felt like you were at someone’s estate. The props, the costumes, the make up, everything was perfect!

Funny story.. so this was the first ever room I’ve done cause we found a deal on Groupon and we’re like….sure why not. We also didn’t know it was a scary one and my friends don’t so scary really well. I did some scare-acting in the past so I was fine. We also didn’t know there was a scare-actor in this room. My friends weren’t ready so whe. He came popping out of the fireplace, the group lost all functionality. I was the one trying to get us through the hour but it wasn’t enough. Even the scare-actor was trying to give us nudges in the room which I figured. My friends just stayed huddled together opposite side from the actor. He wasn’t even supposed to be scary. But we had a great time and I remember the hosts being great as well. A few years later I did this room with another group of friends and we got out! I remember they were saying they planned to expand to the story and add more rooms but for some reason the city wasn’t allowing them. They also mentioned they were going to move to another location. But then they closed and disappeared.

The closure of Cromwell Estate ruined my life. Only slightly hyperbolic. I loved this game. It was scary and immersive, puzzles were fun, and the actor was talented in being scary without relying on old haunted maze tropes (aka didn’t just screech the entire time). The storyline was gripping. Every employee and owner I met was passionate. If i ever win the lottery i will bribe this company to reopen.

I’ve played this game twice, once before the actor, and once after. We had such a great time both times!

The live actor added a wonderful element to this room. Glad we got to do it before it closed. Definitely scary, spooky enough that made puzzles that could have been mild seem like we were solving the most complex tasks.

This is one of the games where I have fond memories and really miss them. They had a very good puzzle flow with a few scares that would be great for players just getting into scary type of escape rooms. The owners were also the nicest and best people ever.
