We had such a fantastic time doing The Train Gang at Next Level Escape! It’s a really unique escape room experience and definitely one of the most immersive we’ve done. From the moment you step inside, you really feel like you’re on a train travelling through the Southern Highlands. The attention to detail is excellent, and having live actors involved adds a whole other dimension to the experience. A special mention to Rebecca, our games master and actor, who was absolutely brilliant. She really brought the experience to life, and interacting with her throughout the game made it even more enjoyable. The puzzles were clever, with a good mix of challenges that required some lateral thinking. We particularly loved how the puzzles and interactions with the characters were woven into the story, making it feel much more like an adventure than a traditional escape room. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would highly recommend it. Such a fun, creative and memorable experience!

I will say before this review that this game will not be for everyone and roleplay is needed if not mandatory for this room to be enjoyable. This room is the room that replaced the Show Must Go On and I can definitely say that they took aspects from that room and improved on every aspect of it. Your game master will constantly be interacting with you in person in the form of a character and you will need to act out your solutions to "solve" the puzzles. Shoutout to Tynan and Simon who took our rooms was great bouncing off them in character! In terms of the set, great design and felt like an older steam train and looks great considering the small room they had to work with. Next level is known for their constant interaction with customers and in this you will ALWAYS be talking to some NPC characters, players who are mostly there to solve puzzles will be a little disappointed but the game isn't designed that way and it benefits greatly from it!

first heist…kinda nervous its no secret that next level are known for their game master interactions, but train gang seriously takes it to the next level (ha). forget ciphers and 400 padlocks, you’re lying and scheming your way to escape. honestly a smart way to utilise such a small space. while it’s not totally mandatory, i’d definitely recommend leaning into the roleplay aspect. makes it way more fun, and works so much better if you play into it. tynan was an absolute trooper for juggling all those damn hats and simon was great too. theatre kids pull up, you’re gonna love this one. if you prefer a traditional lock and key experience, this might not be your cup of tea, but it’s still 100% worth a shot. the good doctor, season 2, episode 17, 36:57
