Containment

Rating: 3/5 - Decent, but it's their oldest room and feels that way, my least favorite here Pros: ➕Set was decent and appropriately creepy ➕Many different rooms to discover ➕Puzzles were decent, nothing annoying or unintuitive ➕Very non-linear, lots of things to do if your team wants to split up. ➕Lighting was dark and atmospheric, but they provided all 4 of us with bright flashlights ➕GM was friendly Room for improvement: ➖It's very lock heavy, you open a bunch of locks consecutively with little reward. There is some tech though. ➖This is their oldest room. Their newer rooms have so much more impressive tech, funny moments, animatronics, etc. ➖Ending was a bit unsatisfying, game ends on a boring puzzle There were a couple minor jump scares, but no actors so I'd say it's creepy but not scary. One person will need to crawl a short distance. I'd recommend a team of 3-4 due to the non-linearity, though our team of 4 solved it with 27min left and no hints. We got the record for the month so this is probably not normal, the GM said this was supposed to be their hardest room. We did split up and solve many things most things separately though. Reading some of the other reviews, I didn’t think I’d like this room that much, but I actually really really enjoyed it. It is more of a gen 1 room with lots of combo/key locks. The puzzles were not too difficult. The set was pretty immersive. They advertise this as a horror room, and while yes, there are some horror aspects, it’s overall not scary at all. Just some slight jump scares. No live actors in the room. I’d definitely recommend people not skip out on this one.

Fun escape room with unique and bloody puzzles. Very lock and key based, and lots of information given in the beginning. This is my favorite style of room, so it’s awesome. Some jumpscares involved in gameplay, so make sure to be aware of that if anyone is jumpy. As a horror lover, it was great! Played twice, fun to see the updates. Had a blast despite being familiar, which is a sign of a great room.

An earlier scary room from 60 to Escape. Very Gen-1, lock and key. Set felt worn, props could use some sprucing up too. Nothing too overwhelming, but good spooky fun!

this room was pretty scary. i felt like something was going to jump around every corner. as a horror fan, i really liked it. pretty dark atmosphere but the flashlights really helped.

Good set and reasonable puzzles, though I thought one element was unjustified in-universe (other than "it's an escape room, so we need props and puzzles"). The spooky vibe isn't too scary (think haunted house level), but may not be appropriate for young players. My main issue was that (like a lot of 60 to Escape's rooms) Containment was less well lit than I'd prefer. Part of that was our fault -- we were supposed to find flashlights very early in the game, but managed to overlook them for quite some time until the GM took pity on us and gave us a nudge. Even with them, though, it was still dimmer than I would have liked. Containment felt like the oldest style game at this location - lots of locks, not much tech.

If you’re a fan of horror (or even if you’re not), this room is so fun and immersive! The game has a good flow and you know your objective from the start, so it’s pretty easy to gauge how far along you are. All of the Sixty to Escape games have been great, but this one was my favorite from a pacing and theme perspective.

The atmosphere of this room was perfect. Creepy, but minimal jump scares. So don’t be too nervous if you don’t like scary. I would have given this a love if there wasn’t one puzzle that we wasted so much time on. It’s one of those things where you’re either good at it or not and our group clearly wasn’t lol. So we wasted like 15 min. Still got out, we just had to make up for lost time!

This was our first 60 to Escape at Gurnee. We've done all the ones in Schaumburg. We didn't like this room as much and mostly because you could hear people in the other rooms (unlike at Schaumburg) which takes away from the immersion. There are alot of locks in this room, but they totally fit with the theme. There is alot going at on at the same time which is good for our group of 4 that likes to spread out, but with the music and moving back and forth between rooms it was hard to keep track of what was done and what still needed to be worked on. Overall it was fine, but not our favorite.
