178 escape rooms
You've seen the movie...now play the game! π If you've watched "The Exorcist," you know how this scenario is gonna play out. But even with knowledge of the film, this room had A LOT of surprises. I haven't experienced anything else quite like it, in terms of effects and choreography. It's been a Terpeca winner every year since 2019, and I completely understand why. We played as a group of 2 enthusiasts, but I could see a team of 3 or even 4 less experienced players working well within the space. The puzzles were actually pretty good, and there were even a couple of multi-layered puzzles (one of which stumped us pretty badly, but the answer was right in front of us). I liked that, unlike some of the other Athens rooms, this room didn't rely so heavily on darkness and fog. There were a couple of instances of light touching...but if you can't handle that, then you shouldn't be playing Greek horror rooms! Similar to No Exit's "Wanted" room, the set and props had a lot of wear, and could really stand a refresh. I understand that they are updating "El Exorcista," but I'm not sure exactly what they're updating. Apparently the room's final puzzle was recently added...but it was easily the worst puzzle of the entire game and the GM told us that she hadn't seen a team solve it yet without hints. Regardless, this room was stunning and I'm still talking about it weeks later.
