Assassin in the Pub

ASSASSINATE ME NEXT PLEASE!!! So this was actually a back-to-back room for me; coming straight out of the cold, stale decor or the Bank and into the cold, stale decor of the Pub. Based on the reuse of props, puzzles and set decoration, it genuinely felt like I was just playing the same room again but this time, there’s been a murder?? And there’s like 50-odd suspects???? I don’t know. Assassin in the Pub is more of the same from Escape Hunt with lock boxes galore and a poorly maintained environment, it all just feels so unenergetic and boring. For an escape room that is so run-down I found it laughable that the final puzzle tries to make you care about/decipher ANY of its narrative beats. I mean there was just no real direction or purpose to anything yet the room demands you be attentive to a story that’s being told quietly in the background through a collect-a-thon of laminated sheets and random props. Badbadbad. Shockingly the staff did not magically become attentive and enthusiastic between this room and the last, I wish that whatever anguish weighs heavy in their heart relents soon because customer service might not be for them. Average room, average place. 4.1/10 🔏🧩

this room felt super dull. the wear and tear inside is evident and the mechanics were pretty janky at times. i like the murder mystery aspect but the execution of it wasn’t great.

This room is very barebones and felt more like we were in a empty room than any sort of pub. The attempt to make it look like one was a singular (very low resolution) wallpaper on one the walls. The all the props and mechanics of the room are very evidently worn down and to the point where we needed to input our answers multiple times for the mechanics to trigger. The puzzles are fine but generally felt more tedious than satisfying to solve... The murder mystery part of the room was ok but still poorly executed.

Clues did not flow that well to determine the assassin. Some objects and mechanisms in the room were finicky. They had to be placed exactly right

2/10, room was really hard and the puzzles were confusing or didn’t correlate with the clues. We escaped but with an extra 10 mins or so added.

This is on the fence a bit this one. It’s obviously a very hard room as advertised, however some puzzles contain misleading or opaque elements. Our host couldn’t explain one particular puzzle after we exited the room which we had brute-forced a bit. Most of the puzzles are great however, so some tweaks could make for a really good room. The time limit of 60 minutes is perhaps a bit tight for the room. We needed a few hints because of the time pressure rather than being stumped. It’s very much a room to play if you enjoy hard puzzles, but I wouldn’t recommend if you enjoy escape rooms that are atmospheric and narrative heavy. Escape Hunt being a franchise has a slight feeling of being mass produced, and the host usually needs to juggle several rooms at a time.
