It's a completely renovated Grand Immersia Hotel that's celebrating tonight its official reopening. The creme of la creme of Quebec's people are expected in the iconic lobby, but the event could be a catastrophe... Will it be your fault?

This was a fun room for a few different reasons. The way the whole experience starts and the mechanic of the whole process was different and very fun! Definitely recommend, we had a blast!

The plot device to get us, as players, into the game felt contrived and nonsensical, and I didn't like the cold open at all. The motivation for the whole thing was very poorly established. Once inside, the live actor didn't seem to serve any in-game purpose other than to create tension by artificially pausing our momentum and forcing us to hide. The room would have held up just fine without that. The room itself was solid, with some nice reveals and puzzles that fit the theme. I especially enjoyed the in-game clock and the unique way we stopped it.

The set design was a little odd, in that it was supposed to be a refurbished 40's hotel about to have a grand reopening, but the dim lighting and worn props made it feel seedy and past its prime. It felt a little at odds with the storyline.

Story

The setup is absurd, and with the cold open that plunges you into the action, the backstory is rushed and unclear. When another "victim" reveals themself later it feels random and unearned. The overall experience of the room is great, but these elements just don't land.

WHAT πŸ‘ A πŸ‘ ROOM πŸ‘ This room completely blew my expectations out of the water for what an escape room experience could be. The immersion, the suspense, the puzzles, the incorporation of the timer were so unbelievably well done and kept my partner and I ELATED for the drive back to Toronto from Laval. Highly highly recommend and my current no. 1.

Gameplay

Puzzles were exceptional, not too complicated individually but a good variety and good amount for the timeframe

I really like games where you feel connected to the plot. This one sucks you right in! Compared to other games in the area, the set feels weaker, but place this escape room anywhere else in the world and it would be an immediate top room.

Although I will admit, I was a little sad that we didn’t get a discount for booking two rooms and they weren’t excited over us doing our 100 escape rooms this weekend.

The real highlight of this room is the set design : it’s spacious, beautifully crafted, and full of thoughtful details ! The storyline is original and offers much more than just a simple hotel visit, with a great twist that keeps things engaging. The character involved adds a fun layer to the experience and really helps drive the narrative forward. Some of the puzzles felt a bit too easy or overly guided, but that didn’t take away from how much fun we had. Overall, we had a blast, and Immersia continues to be one of my favorite escape room companies 🫢

The set/decor for this game was nice, capturing the feeling of an older fancy hotel. The puzzles felt a little sparse for the space, though I guess that's a tradeoff between making them feel somewhat natural vs. implausibly packed - I would have preferred more puzzles, personally. I appreciated the optional sidequest puzzle, as well as the GM reminding us that it existed before we accidentally finished the main path. I didn't really like the story/theme - it didn't click for me, and the recorded actor got on my nerves, but that's probably just me.
