It's a completely renovated Grand Immersia Hotel that's celebrating tonight its official reopening. The creme of la creme of Quebec's people are expected in the iconic lobby, but the event could be a catastrophe... Will it be your fault?

83 escape rooms

When planning our trip to Montreal for escape rooms, I could only pick 8 rooms. This was the 9th room on my list... but after we completed St. Onge's Case and loved that one so much, I asked if they had this room open to do immediately afterwards and they did, so we got to play a 9th room after all. This was a super fun room. The set is straight out of The Grand Budapest Hotel. I mean, it felt like we were on the set. The puzzles were fantastic. Lots of things to work on. Fun character interactions without being character driven. I would definitely recommend this room. I'm so glad we got a chance to do it.

This was a surprising and fun room that was completely different to what I expected. Based on the name and set photos I thought this would be another haunted hotel scenario but it ended up being more like a heist under duress! Fantastic intro, strong set (the lobby was fantastic), and mostly good puzzles that tested a range of skills and teamwork. Like most of Immersia’s games, the use of a live actor was sparing but effective.

After doing rooms as Escaparium, Hotel Immersia felt a lot more traditional, but I really enjoyed the setup and gameplay. The beginning was a bit unsettling because I don’t like aggressive environments, but the staff at Immersia was VERY accommodating, and I should have opted for the accommodation provided. I also experienced a bit of motion sickness in the beginning, so you can probably ask them to modify it if that's also an issue for you. Once we finally got into the room and started solving, it was so fun! My favorite part was that there were many tasks to do at once, so all members of our group could contribute. There’s a hidden story for groups who advance quickly through the room, though that story should be the actual story! Hotel Immersia was my favorite room on my Montreal escape room trip!

Gameplay

I liked that there were things for people to do concurrently, though none of the puzzles were especially novel.

Atmosphere

It really felt like we were in a hotel!

Customer service

GM and staff accommodated my requests, and they were fun to talk to after the experience!

A really fun heist room with a beautifully expansive set and a couple of nice twists. A bit of hide-and-seek that stays on the humorous/fun side rather than getting too scary. Puzzles flowed well and there’s a clear narrative/objective that makes sense. One of my favorites at the Boisbriand location, definitely doable with two players but possibly chaotic fun with more players.

This was a fun room for a few different reasons. The way the whole experience starts and the mechanic of the whole process was different and very fun! Definitely recommend, we had a blast!

The plot device to get us, as players, into the game felt contrived and nonsensical, and I didn't like the cold open at all. The motivation for the whole thing was very poorly established. Once inside, the live actor didn't seem to serve any in-game purpose other than to create tension by artificially pausing our momentum and forcing us to hide. The room would have held up just fine without that. The room itself was solid, with some nice reveals and puzzles that fit the theme. I especially enjoyed the in-game clock and the unique way we stopped it.

Gameplay
Atmosphere

The set design was a little odd, in that it was supposed to be a refurbished 40's hotel about to have a grand reopening, but the dim lighting and worn props made it feel seedy and past its prime. It felt a little at odds with the storyline.

Story

The setup is absurd, and with the cold open that plunges you into the action, the backstory is rushed and unclear. When another "victim" reveals themself later it feels random and unearned. The overall experience of the room is great, but these elements just don't land.

WHAT 👏 A 👏 ROOM 👏 This room completely blew my expectations out of the water for what an escape room experience could be. The immersion, the suspense, the puzzles, the incorporation of the timer were so unbelievably well done and kept my partner and I ELATED for the drive back to Toronto from Laval. Highly highly recommend and my current no. 1.

Gameplay

Puzzles were exceptional, not too complicated individually but a good variety and good amount for the timeframe

I really like games where you feel connected to the plot. This one sucks you right in! Compared to other games in the area, the set feels weaker, but place this escape room anywhere else in the world and it would be an immediate top room.

Although I will admit, I was a little sad that we didn’t get a discount for booking two rooms and they weren’t excited over us doing our 100 escape rooms this weekend.
