Beast Of Berlin

“Beast of Berlin” is one of our top two rooms at “The Room.” I deliberately entered the room without much prior preparation. As a result, the experience was significantly more intense. My girlfriend, on the other hand, read the description more carefully beforehand and already had a general idea of how the story would unfold. I would choose the same approach again at any time. The experience felt noticeably more immersive. The introduction was well designed and created a strong atmosphere from the very beginning. The overall structure was very well executed. The puzzles were thoughtfully designed and of high quality. Several senses, such as smell, sight, and touch, were deliberately incorporated and used effectively. This clearly enhanced the overall experience. Overall, it is a highly recommendable room.

Sadly, this room fell very flat for me. While the atmosphere was fine and everything looked authentic enough, the story and the audiobook elements just didn't really make any sense to me and the ending itself was pretty abrupt. It was also nothing new - it was quite predictable what was going on since there already exists rooms with a story like this, There was also no scarefactor in any way, which I was a little bit hoping for due to the reviews I've read. The worst thing though was our gamemaster. While she was really friendly, she gave us way too many unnecessary hints, so we got out of the room 20min early (the room is 60min long nowadays, so we finished after 40min). We would have told her beforehand to not give us hints unless we were really stuck, but due to TheRoom's new concept we didn't meet our gamemaster until the end. Even when we stated in the room that we'd do a specific thing in a few seconds, she already told us to do that thing we already talked about. That just made the whole experience even worse. It felt like she didn't even want us to think about anything. As people who enjoy puzzles and riddles a lot and want to solve complex puzzles by themselves (the ones in this room were pretty easy, so there was no way we would have gotten stuck anyway), having someone give us some sort of tutorial for the room and not being patient enough to let us do stuff ourselves, is just one hell of an awful experience that made me have no real fun in the room. But even if we had a better gamemaster - the room itself just didn't feel special or specifically interesting, which is why I'm not gonna recommend it in any way.

Played it twice!

This room gets a really high rating from me due to its atmosphere. The furniture and all props fit it perfectly into the setting and time of the story of the room. What stood out additionally was the smell added to certain corners/ things, different temperatures and the sound design in addition to the “usual” lighting effects you find in other top rooms. Also: no cameras nor speakers nor any other type of modern tech was visible anywhere but extreme well hidden in decoration. Perfect immersion. We had some scare moments so to very realistically looking props which was of course what we came for :) - so the room fully delivered its promises!

A very good escape room where the ambience makes you feel like you're not alone in the room. It is not very scary, but you might be on edge during a good part of the game. The décor was once again sublime, and the riddles were very fun and fitting in the theme.

All in all, this was very well done. Puzzles made complete sense and flowed very naturally.

Production design is incredible, puzzles were challenging and the twists and turns are phenomenal. Games in both English in German make this accessible to locals and tourists. Cannot recommend enough!

I play-tested the old version 1 of The Beast back in around 2014. „The Beast of Berlin“ immersed the players into a detailed and accurate setting with interesting puzzles that move the players through a thrilling adventure

Wir haben diesen Raum zu viert gespielt. Super Design des Raumes, sehr stimmig zum Thema. Wir hatten sehr viel Spaß - in unserer Runde war es unser 1. gemeinsames Spiel und das hat super funktioniert. Haider war ein toller Gamemaster - so waren wir auch super eingestimmt auf den Raum. Die Rätsel waren gut und zum Ende gab es eines, welches auch für uns neu war. Wir waren jedenfalls sehr gut unterhalten.

"Beast of Berlin" tells the story of a murderer, and we, as players, need to catch him. It's a concept that has been used in many escape rooms before, but "The Room" has absolutely convinced me. The puzzles were difficult (in my opinion, the hardest room from "The Room - Berlin"), and I loved them. There were so many moments of "Wait, does that really work?" or "Haha, it was really back there!" The room was extremely satisfying, though challenging. The sound design stood out positively to me, I was really afraid at one point (even though the room had no actors!). This effect was achieved through perfect lighting, sound, and object placement, and I am thrilled. The game masters were, as always, fantastic! 10/10 must play.
