I did this with a buddy a few years ago and I still have fond memories of it. It was great that just the two of us could do it, but more than three people in this room would be cramped. Theming was fun and cute. Puzzles weren't insanely hard, but still fun for us to do. The one hard part in the room is naming the culprit and the weapon correctly. It's not that it's necessarily difficult, but the pressure is certainly there that adds some nerves!
The staff here are always so friendly and chatty.

There was a visual clue added to this and when I heard about it after the room was completed, I agreed that it made the room excellent instead of just okay. If you watched cable TV crime solving in the late 80s and early 90s and love 80s music, this room is for you!!
Trying to solve a mystery like clue.

The room was well put together. Staff was INCREDIBLE! I had emailed prior to booking about personal anxieties and they helped me find the room for me. Also told me in the future they have the ability to modify certain scary rooms to accommodate certain concerns. Will definitely be back for more rooms!!!!

Overall rating - 8.5/10 Puzzles - 7 Gameplay - 10 Atmosphere - 8 Experience - 10 For a breakdown of my weighted rating system you can refer to my bio. As others have said, this is one room. I don't consider that a spoiler personally I think it's important to know to set expectations. That being said it was a very enjoyable room. We did it with two and we felt relaxes the whole way through. The puzzles are straight forward but fun. There's not a ton of tech in the room but I think it's perfect for two people.

This was the room that started it all for me! Despite the room's small size, you still get the full-package of everything I look for in a room - immersion, story, and challenging puzzles. They do a great job here of adding little details in beyond normal theming to help you feel like you're really in a teenage girl's room. Really loved this room!
Great! Tough but not impossible
Awesome! Straight out of the 80s.
The GM was so kind and really helpful.

This was an amazing room! We were in the area just having fun and exploring and decided to try this place - first of all the owners were so beyond kind and we had so much fun chatting with them before the game. Now onto the room - itβs amazing how great this room is for the fact that itβs just one room. The room design was incredible and we literally felt like we were in a teenage girls bedroom from the 80βs. The puzzles were also really well thought out, fun, and immersive. Nothing was broken, and there were enough puzzles for us to keep busy and not feel like we had not enough to do. Lastly, the storytelling was truly great. Everything made sense and stuck to the theme, and the puzzles really did help you feel like you were leading yourself to solve the murder. This is probably the best storytelling Iβve ever had in an escape room.
Gameplay was excellent and flowed really well

Didnβt feel like much of an escape room more like a murder mystery jammed into one room. Not saying it wasnβt fun but it was a bit jammed back and story line was hard to follow at times.
Truly felt like there needed to be more here. The overall idea was great and I liked the setting but this being just one room with way too much shoved into one room.

The Murder of 89 isnβt an escape room. Itβs a who dunnit room. Thatβs not to say itβs bad, my friends and I enjoyed it and we made got the answer with one minute to spare. The Atmosphere matched the theme great. The staff is wonderful as well. I recommend this room for anyone to try out.
Itβs not a theme based on escaping, but a who done it scenario. You have to solve a murder, which is a fine as the challenge is good and adds tension to get it right and not just escape.
As a child from the 1980s they got the design right, also feeling a bit clichΓ© of 1980s pop culture.
Staff and game masters are great.

I did this room for my 17th birthday and it was the first room I ever did! the puzzles are a nice challenge, not too easy but also not too hard to solve. if youβre feeling nostalgic or want to experience what living in the 80βs feels like with a little murder mystery twist id definitely recommend it! I will say im a bit biased because it started off an unhealthy obsession with escape rooms
the game flows really nice, there are three paths in the room and each path is labeled pretty clearly, there is also a set goal
it definitely felt like a time capsule of a teenage girls bedroom
the staff is very warm and welcoming
Yes
the murder mystery theme had you really immersed in the story, along with the atmosphere its a very good immersive experience
you never really forget about the premise due to it being a murder mystery and being able to guess the killer just keeps you glued onto whatβs happening in the room
Medium
the room fits 2-6 players and I feel like there would be a major difference between the amount of people. if youre more experienced the less people the better, if youre newer id recommend 4-6
Mechanical
only a few techie functions in the room the rest is more manual which I feel helps set up the atmosphere like a real investigation
4
4 is the sweet spot no matter the experience level
Not scary
nothing really scary, one or two of the tech functions may startle you but its not scary
11
10 or 11 is the golden target for a room like this, its not too hard but the older components may have younger kids asking what a cassette tape is or even a VHS tape. reading comprehension is also important for this room

βThis is a fun game for a lean team of enthusiasts or a slightly larger team of newer players. β
βThis game is extremely story-driven with twists and turns that will slowly unravel...β
