“10/10 a must do in Berlin. As someone who doesn’t do horror rooms- this had a good amount of tension and a brilliant ending. Probably my favourite ending to any room I’ve done! The story and theming was fantastic. Our GM, Sophie, was wonderful.”

“The Lost Treasure Of Alexander von Humboldt is one of the two best rooms offered by The Room according to our evaluation. The introduction and the initial briefing were very well executed. The room design and thematic concept were consistently convincing. The puzzles were coherent and thoughtfully integrated into the overall concept. The game also incorporated various sensory elements in a deliberate and effective manner. Overall, the room is carefully designed and provides a highly enjoyable experience. The game master deserves special mention. He allowed us to play independently and did not provide a single hint. We can fully recommend this room without reservation.”

““Beast of Berlin” is one of our top two rooms at “The Room.” I deliberately entered the room without much prior preparation. As a result, the experience was significantly more intense. My girlfriend, on the other hand, read the description more carefully beforehand and already had a general idea of how the story would unfold. I would choose the same approach again at any time. The experience felt noticeably more immersive. The introduction was well designed and created a strong atmosphere from the very beginning. The overall structure was very well executed. The puzzles were thoughtfully designed and of high quality. Several senses, such as smell, sight, and touch, were deliberately incorporated and used effectively. This clearly enhanced the overall experience. Overall, it is a highly recommendable room.”

“What a perfect theme for Berlin! We were initially skeptical because it can also be played with children. We worried it might be a bit too boring. That’s why we booked at short notice. The setting is perfect for an ’80s and GDR theme, it really feels like a trip back in time. The puzzles are easy to solve and the fun factor is high. A small tip: Wait for the intro in the room before you start on the puzzles.”

“It’s a nice escape room experience that I personally loved because of some details and the setting. In regards to puzzles and tasks pretty straightforward and guided; as a bit more experienced players we were able to figure many things out even without reading/ listening to instructions. Fun for kids as well :)”

“This is a very cool room packed densely with tasks and riddles. As said on the website you start in three groups and are joined together as the story unfolds. Thus it is all about communication and collaboration in the first parts. Once you are all together you’re in a space where there is so much going on simultaneously that it’s impossible to keep track of all the little details that are going on and all riddles the others are solving which can get a bit chaotic, but that’s exactly how it should feel on a fast sinking ship with limited time to escape… Means there is just one chance for players who want to experience EVERY bit of this room: come back a second time ;) Would recommend the min. number of players (5) as it would get very crowded with more players in some parts of the room and there is already a bit of chaos with 5 players in the end.”

“I may be biased as an english tourist in Berlin when I did this room, but thus far this has been my favourite room of any country I have been to and done an escape room. Dynamic, involved, very english friendly despite being in the heart of berlin. Highly recommend so long as you can handle a bit of spookyness. We escaped as a 2 but it was hard. Without giving spoilers the more observant escapers have an advantage over puzzling escapers. The puzzles aren't necessarily difficult but spotting and realising what goes where is the challenge of this room.”

“Der Raum ist für das Thema wahnsinnig toll gestaltet und ist so viel größer, als er wirken mag! Viele lustige Momente und auch ein toller Showdown am Ende machen das Erlebnis komplett! Für jede Altersgruppe zu empfehlen, die keine Probleme damit haben, auch mal krabbeln zu müssen”

“The room is excellent from the very beginning. The effects are impressive. The game starts in a mysterious way and offers a well-crafted introduction. You feel transported into a magical world. It creates a dense, immersive atmosphere. You fully dive into the setting and are actively woven into the story. The puzzles work well for two people. Tasks can be sensibly divided up. The room design is implemented in a truly special way. We do not want to share details to avoid spoilers. Overall, it is a great experience in an outstanding setting. For Harry Potter fans, it is a must. We can definitely recommend the room. Note: It is not a puzzle-heavy room, but is more focused on the magical experience.”

“This room left us speechless, that's how good it is. The welcome/briefing is in character, and that puts you in the middle of the story immediately. The set design is phenomenal, in its use of lighting and smells. Special shout out to our host that did a magnificent job!”

Remember those point-and-click adventure games where you’re locked in a room and have to solve puzzles to find the key and escape? Those online games were the original inspiration for the live escape rooms you’ll find all across the world today. An escape room is an immersive experience where you (and your team of 2 or more people) are locked in a room with a series of puzzles for 60 minutes. To escape and win the game, you have to look for clues, solve the puzzles, and find the key. While most escape rooms only give you 60 minutes to complete the challenge, others may have shorter or longer time limits. Many venues are private rooms where you and your team are the only players. However, some places may pair you with other groups who booked a slot at the same time. And don’t worry about getting stuck, asking for hints on a difficult puzzle is totally normal. While the original escape room (created by SCRAP in 2007) had a fairly simple aesthetic, today’s escape games often take you into a different world. Artistic set designs, secret doors, and unique interactive elements are all part of the fun. It’s like an adventure game that you can interact with in real life. But if you’re hoping to preview any rooms before you book a game somewhere, detailed images and videos can be hard to find. To keep the puzzles a secret and preserve the experience of seeing the room for the first time, most venues only offer a few photos or a short trailer about the room’s theme or narrative. The only way to know what it’s like is to go and try it for yourself!
