The Amsterdam Catacombs

Excellent atmosphere and actors Did not escape but that did not take away from the ending

An escape room in the catacombs of a church – quite an experience! I did imagine it to be a bit larger, but the puzzles are really well designed and the atmosphere is fantastic. The ending is especially spectacular and adds a real sense of urgency. The actors fit their roles perfectly and contribute a lot to the overall mood. There aren’t any traditional jump scares, but there is one part that definitely calls for someone brave – not for the faint-hearted, but brilliantly done!

As a disclaimer, horror games aren't my favorite genre. Having said that, the Catacombs felt like a decent implementation. While I did hear negative stories from a friend about their experience, my group had a smooth playthrough. The game's creators make good use of a creepy found space; the set was pretty good. Puzzles were fine. As usual with horror games, I wish the lighting was better. There's a solo moment that I didn't do but sounded a little disappointing, and I'm not sure if it's fire safe.

The experience starts the moment you ring the doorbell... and that already sets the mood. I really appreciated that you get the chance to use the restroom before the “investigation” begins (and again afterwards). Also, the staff member mentioned it’s better to wear fewer layers since it can get warm inside, very true! Luckily, I had a T-shirt under my sweater. I went with my husband, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law, and before you know it, you’re completely drawn into the story. The atmosphere, the set design, the mystery, and the creepy factor are all incredibly well done. Such an intense and awesome experience! It definitely helps to have a good puzzle-solver in your group. I’m not the best at puzzles myself, but I still managed to contribute. All in all, a fantastic experience, well thought out and full of attention to detail. Highly recommended if you enjoy immersive and thrilling escape rooms!

An underrated room - everything is just solid and heaps of fun, from the detailed and antique set design to the REAL underground location to the seamless flow and solid narrative frame. This room deserves more praise than some highly technology- and engineering-dependent names whose names circulate internationally.

Creepy fun abounds! I was worried about how scary it would be but it was wonderfully immersive but not emotionally scarring (lol). Highly recommend if you want a spooky environment with great actors and interesting puzzles. Chandler and Dalia were phenomenal hosts from start to finish.
