This was a really fun room! The decorations were beautiful and in theme (right down to the creaking floors - lol), the puzzles were challenging but not obscure, and everything was in top condition. Excalibur was my 41st escape room (36W - 5L) so I still consider myself a bit of a newbie. I played with two other adults with similar stats - three seems like a nice number, but there is certainly room for more players. We escaped with 22:39 remaining and no clues needed so we agree that it is a medium difficulty room. The staff were very welcoming, friendly, helpful and respected our request for no hints unless we asked for them.
I really liked the medieval theme! The story flowed well and the props were impressive and very in theme (right down to the count down clock).
The room was beautifully decorated. The props were very high end and everything was in great condition.
The Mind Trap staff were wonderful. Our GM was patient, friendly, and very knowledgeable about the other Mind Trap games. She also made suggestions about other rooms in the area that she has enjoyed.
Yes
I liked the medieval theme! The puzzles were challenging, but logical.
The Excalibur plot was fun and the room and puzzles were very well integrated into that theme.

High tech
The room is a nice mix of tech and mechanical.

We don't do scary...
8
I suggest eight just because that's when most kid's have the attention span for an hour long escape room. However, if you have a younger enthusiast, certainly include them!

Everything was in excellent condition.

No live actors, thank goodness.
Somewhat
There is the usual rushing around, but nothing strenuous.
The room is large enough for a wheelchair but vision and color ability are necessary for some puzzles. If you need hints, those are given verbally, so hearing might be key too.

I really wanted to like this room. The theming was great. The atmosphere was really good, but all the puzzles were VERY basic without anything complex at all. I wish the room would have some more complex puzzles.
Would recommend this room to beginners. We completed the room with two people. Probably not enough for more than that to do. Some of the clues were to just pick stuff up off the floor and rearrange it. Nothing super novel. Not for those experienced with many escape rooms
It was too dark in some of the areas of the escape room to fully see the props and clues.

I had such a great time in this escape room! I was truly in awe of how immersive the set design was, the creativity that was put into every puzzle and prop, and how every clue was utilized in respect to one another. I would HIGHLY recommend this escape room to everyone! If you enjoy fantasy and the lore behind Excalibur, King Arthur, and the medieval realm, this is the perfect escape room for you! I completed this room with a friend (which this was his 2nd escape room), and we had such a fun experience! It is doable to complete with 2 players, however; we escaped with 23 seconds, so we were cutting it REALLY close! lol. Once again, this was his 2nd escape room and I had completed 32 escape rooms prior to Excalibur, so we did need some nudges and clarifications along the way, and our Game Master was very helpful and friendly when she saw that we needed some assistance. With that being said, personally I would recommend 3-4 players for this room because of the space, the dim lighting for the effect, and the slightly complexity of the puzzles. I would rate this room as medium to hard depending on your confidence and skill level. Overall, I loved this escape room and I absolutely would recommend Excalibur to everyone! You will not be disappointed!
I cannot say enough about how creative and fun the gameplay was! And the reveal of the puzzles felt pretty magical and satisfying too haha.
Everything in this escape room was so immersive! From the set design, the lights, the special effects, the technology and mechanics, the props, everything was impressive!
I loved our Game Master because she used a friendly, Medieval Lady/Lord voice over to assist us in some hints. She was very immersive and friendly, and it added some comedy to certain parts when we were rushing or stuck on a puzzle because she was so calm, kind, and patient with us while we were pressured by the time lol.

Parking was located in a shopping center, so on peak seasons/hours, I could see this parking lot getting filled. We went on a weekday, so parking was really easy.

MindTrap makes some great rooms! Excalibur was a delight to play. Great use of timer, amazing decor, and the game master was in character the whole time.
Definitely immersive.
Our GM was friendly and funny.

This is a solid room, well constructed. Too easy for 4 players. I would go with 2. As far as “pull Excalibur from the stone” rooms go, this one is very well done. Nice sets, good puzzles (but easy). Some nice special effects and great use of “swords and sorcery” props and effects. Recommended, but if you are good at escape rooms it may play very short for you as it did for us.

Harder than Winnie-the-Pooh, but not hard.
Mechanical
Mechanical in places and high tech in places. A good use of both.

Excellent set design and really fun props! Game was very straightforward and somewhat simple. Smaller groups will make this better as there’s not a ton to do. Even though it is nonlinear the room is spread out so sometimes you miss something if it gets solved quickly and you’re far away. Overall high marks for ambience but the puzzles, while well themed, were a bit too simple to have really loved this room. Good experience overall!

I have mixed feelings about my experience with this escape room. In general, I've enjoyed all of the MindTrap rooms. Set design always impresses me and the puzzles have been fun. However, this time, we had a really poor host. My team and I are pretty experienced players, so we don't often ask for hints unless we're really stuck. But our host was basically talking us through the entire game. We were really exhausted by the constant chatter and didn't feel accomplished in any way. I would still come back because I like this business, but I hope this doesn't happen again.
