Asylum of Fear [prev. Das Sanatorium]

What an ecstatic relief of a game after the disappointing (and screechingly annoying) Dark Forest! One of my new favorite games, this sets a new bar for me in escape actor interaction - the performances enhanced the story, enhanced the puzzles... and WERE the puzzles. An absolute must-play. Far less scary than expected, this isn't "scare you to scare you." This is a real escape room with real puzzles which require triage, logic and execution. You will have time to solve the puzzles and complete the tasks required to achieve your mission, and won't be forced to endure false jumpscares which don't play perfectly into the storyline. (But be on your toes... and watch where you step ;) )

Very scary! The actors were phenomenal with their physicality and the way they brought the characters to life. I really appreciated that they weren't constantly scaring so that you could move through the puzzles, but that they were strategic and you could make choice points on level of interactions and preparedness for interactions. I appreciate that they made some accommodations because I had a minor injury at the time of the game. Very nice owners. Great game with action- packed fun . . . if you dare.

After playing “The dark forest” at this venue last week and loving it, we came back today to play their second horror room “Asylum of fear”. And we were not disappointed - this is another very fantastic (and super scary) room. Still only my third horror room, thus not much to compare it with yet, but in regards to gameplay and horror type and tension it’s very different from The Dark Forest and hence was something completely new for me again. Because the rooms are to different it’s hard to say which one is “scariest”, but personally O enjoyed playing the Asylum a bit more than the others. There are tasks to do, puzzle to solve and new areas the unlock so it feels like there is more to do and keep you busy instead of “just” being scared… The setting and atmosphere is absolutely top - maybe just a bit of too much fog here and there, sounds and lights extremely well used, and the acting of the game masters is absolutely next level from intro to finish. The also took some time after the game to chat with us about everything which was very nice and rounding our experience. Will definitely come back to play their third horror room that is currently in construction once it’s open.

This was a very scary game to do. It was essentially playing resident evil/silent hill style games but in person. I found this more scary than the dark forest game at the same venue. Puzzles reasonably straightforward- but getting to them or being able to complete them can be challenging.

Really great use of space. While Dark Forest felt open to run around, Asylum was cramped and at times claustrophobic. Trying to maneuver around the actors while they stalked and chased you was a definite highlight. Thinking you’re safe is a trap, there was stellar set design in that nowhere was truly safe. A fantastic experience from start to finish. A must play in Germany.

Our 18th stop on our Escape Tour Germany 2024. Another excellent horror experience from Escape Stories! This room stands out for its tight, close-quarters design, making it far more intense and chaotic than The Dark Forrest. The proximity to the actors amplifies the tension, keeping you on edge throughout. The puzzles, while slightly harder than The Dark Forrest, remain on the easier side, allowing the focus to stay on the immersive horror elements. Fans of the Silent Hill video game series will feel right at home with the familiar, eerie atmosphere. Highly recommended for fans of scary rooms seeking a thrilling and immersive challenge!

First horror experience we played with our group, an man is it a banger. The actors do the best job u can think of, your heartrate will tell you. Puzzles fit perfectly in the setting and will make you feel even more uncomfortable at certain points. If you a horror fan and close to Wuppertal, u camt misss this masterpiece

My Favorite Horror Room Right now. It was our Groups first Horrror Room and what can I say, but they delivered. The Actors were absolutely amazing, Before, during and after the game. The Puzzles were a good difficulty for the type of Room (Beeing terrified kinda restricts your rational thinking xD ) The armosphere was unbelievable creepy and i was so scared. My Favorite Escape Room Right Now 10/10 must play
