Check your membership cards! Eccentric businessman and Harvest Moon Video store owner, Joseph Boddy , is set to retire. He has decided to randomly select several membership cards from his Video Store database and has issued special “golden tickets” to a lucky few. A local newspaper, The Sleepy Hollow Patch, is reporting that Mr. Boddy has laid out a series of challenges throughout his beloved video store for the chosen few, and if successful, the team will be rewarded THE DEED to the store. Mr. Boddy feels it is time for a change in ownership, one that can bring a fresh new upgrade to Harvest Moon Video as a new generation takes the helm of the film world. HMV has always been a prominent fixture on Main Street in the quiet village of Sleepy Hollow, New York. This quaint store continues to be the hot spot in town on a Friday night, as locals fill the aisles look for movies to rent. YOUR membership card has been drawn, and you and your team are anxiously waiting outside the store for further instructions. As you feel the crisp, cool air and take in the smells of the fall season, you listen to the passing cars, wondering when Joseph Boddy will arrive. At exactly 10:31 pm, a video beings to play inside the store. Your instructions are simple. You must gain entrance to the store and complete the tasks within an hour. If you are successful, you will be granted the deed to Harvest Moon Video. However, if you cannot complete his game in time, your car will be towed, and the next team of lucky golden ticket winners will get their change at this one-in=a=lifetime opportunity.

Wow! The nostalgia was strong with this one! The Video Store was a unique room with a theme I’ve never experienced at any other escape room. The tricks were very theme centered, although our group ran into some trouble towards the end of our experience. It seems that a piece of a prop that was used for one of the tricks in the room was not reset properly, and hindered our experience. We didn’t actually find out that we were missing that item until after we escaped when our game master explained what happened. It was kind of a bummer because we spent about 10-15 minutes on that specific trick with no help from the staff. Aside from that slip up, we had a good time and were able to make it through the entire game.

Very fun! Nostalgic! This game was fun for all ages! Lots of effects and puzzle solving I haven’t come across yet!

Nostalgic game play! One clue didn’t make very much sense and our game master agreed, but otherwise, a fun game with excellent throwbacks to the 90s!

What to even say about this game, it was like seeing an old video store right in front of us. Challenging but fun! Great game masters and space.

I can’t say enough amazing things about this room. This has jumped up near the top of my list of favorites. The theming was fantastic, absolutely wonderful, especially loved the nice dose of nostalgia. The puzzles were so wonderfully themed as well and they incorporated some unique uses of tech we really enjoyed! There were a lot of puzzles to this room! They varied from fairly simple to some thought provoking more complex ones. We had such a blast working through this room! We escaped with about 5 mins left and just two of us. There is definitely enough puzzles for multiple people to work on at once without tripping over each other. However I wouldn’t suggest more than 4 people as I think it would get a little tight. Highly recommend!

NOSTALGIA, OMG brought back some fun memories. Not hard, but not easy either. This was such a fun room with puzzles I’ve never seen before. If you are under 30 years old you won’t fully appreciate the environment or set design. For the rest of us 30+ this will bring back childhood memories just don’t squirrel out reading the boxes or watching the movies (it’s really easy to do, NOSTALGIA) it is still an escape room.

This was my first room with Dare 2 Escape and I must say, it got me hooked. I love the atmosphere of the building the rooms are in and the room itself did not disappoint. Our GM Bri was absolutely hilarious, at the beginning of our time she tipped out of a rolling chair and that was when we knew it was gonna be a great game. The puzzles were unique and complex and all really flowed with the room theme and story line. I won’t spoil anything but it did really itch the part of my brain that misses blockbuster.

This room was right on the border between a like and love rating for me, but I ended up going with love because is some clever puzzles, the set, and the nostalgia.
“A lighthearted and nostalgic video store game that would be fun for all ages.“
“A nostalgic escape room, crafted with a devotion to the subject matter“
Participants between 13-17 years of age will need a parent or guardian to sign a waiver allowing them to play alone. However, Children aged 9-12 will need one paying adult in the room. Groups with children under the age of 9 will be required to book the entire room. If you are booking a birthday party or other special event for children, we will arrange for an in-room Game Master to monitor the game play.
