Room 1985
The Locked Inn
Escape room
IRL
Another great and well thought out escape room by the Locked Inn. So much to see. Wonderfully themed but definitely more appreciated by those who were lucky enough to be part of the 1980s. Our teenage daughters were annoyed at how excited we were about all the throwbacks. The puzzles were unique and many were specific to the 80s theme. The doors that open and close to new rooms are never where you expect! Once again, a great hostess in Ariel. This place is so memorable!

One of the most well decorated and detailed rooms I've ever experienced. These are the kinda rooms you wish didn't have a time limit because you just want to enjoy the visual wonders they offer. There were so many puzzles I hadn't experienced before as well. The feeling of going down a rabbit hole is a way to describe it as you encountered the multiple different rooms and puzzles in the escape experience. It was truly a unique wonderland of puzzles. The hostess, Ariel, was friendly, fun and encouraging. The puzzles were mostly medium in difficulty. There were quite a few items in the room that did nothing for you which is designed to throw you off I guess - never my favorite but I get why they do that. The very last puzzle didn't work well so just be gentle with it. In addition, I didn't fully grasp our objective. I guess it was to save wonderland, but it wasn't very clear what we were saving it from. Also, it seems they are there only when there is a reservation so might not be available if you're just trying to walk in. All that being said, I loved the experience and would highly recommend it.

The best escape room by far! I'm a newbie in escape rooms but this one has so much variety in figuring out the puzzles. Oftentimes you were rewarded with a cool high tech effect when figuring out a clue. It's obvious that a lot of time, thought and energy went into this room. I look forward to their next room!!

I really liked this room. Close to a love but we spent too much time on a couple clues for reasons that may not have been entirely our fault. It's not because I'm a sore loser I promise! 😆 In addition, a major time sucker was waiting for a hint to come up on the screen. We asked for 2 hints and I swear it took over a minute each for them to be typed out. Not sure if this was part of the AI theme or the host had trouble typing it out but I felt like it added to our 4 minutes over time. And part of the hint they give us, we had already figured out! It made me not want to ask for hints. Otherwise, the clues varied in uniqueness and difficulty. It was well themed and fun! Would definitely recommend.

Just like their other escape room (Rita's Relics), this room did NOT disappoint in the technical effects and creativity. The variety of clues and interactive gameplay made the room so enjoyable. It was definitely easier than RR since it was more of just following a manual but the entertainment value made up for the ease. It's very evident that a lot of thought and time went into each portion of the room. And it's even more exciting knowing this is just episode 1!
Prison Break
Red Door Escape Room - Oxnard

I really enjoyed this room. A mixture of easy and difficult clues. The end was a surprise. Heads up: there is an optional ending which will lead to one more clue to escape. I wish I knew this ahead of time because it's not very clear at the time and if you pick the other one, it's over. Which is sad. 😆 The other thing that was kinda annoying is that a piece broke off at the very beginning (a magnet on a chain) but no one came in to fix it so we had to leave the room to find someone. Weird since there's usually someone watching? But the staff is great overall, excited and fun!

Definitely one of the better rooms we've done. Great theme and decor. We needed 3 hints at the end (hubby hates to ask for them! 🤦♀️). They gave us a hint for a puzzle that we didn't need to solve anymore so they must have to give certain hints in a certain order. This made us waste some time on a clue that we hadn't solved but didn't need, if that makes sense. Otherwise, great staff and room!
Curse On The Emerald Seas
Puzzle Effect - San Luis Obispo

It was a solid escape room experience. The things I didn't particularly like were: there was only one room in the experience, and one of the clues was ambiguous - that is, it looked like it could go together in various ways🐉. There were varying degrees of difficulties in the clues which I always enjoy but mediocre technology which is expected in a franchise style escape room. Still, worth the visit.

This is a recently relocated escape room run by a lovely couple who are obviously very passionate about escape rooms as evidenced by their time and commitment to the endeavor. They are planning an expansion of rooms with a similar theme - something like a fantasy, middle-earth kinda feel. It was definitely a lock heavy room which I don't prefer. In addition, there were copious amounts of letters/papers to read and most of the reading did not contribute to finding clues which again, I don't prefer. Too much distraction. There was limited technology, but I did find the story board, that could or could not be part of the escape (they are still working that out), unique and interesting. It gave a good wrap-up of the plot which is often missed or forgotten in the excitement of the escape. I think this business has a lot of potential and, if I were in the Fresno area, would definitely return to try out another one of their rooms.

I like the theme and the many accurate references to the movie but it just didn't flow. It was a 'solve this clue, open this lock' kinda game with no real variety on getting clues. We had to ask for a lot of hints as well. Not sure if this is because we're still new at escape rooms or it just was too difficult. Staff was very friendly and the room was decorated perfectly to match the theme.
