Teleporter TrialsLock, Clock, and Peril Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLOh my goodness, this is a really fun game that has an adorable twist. There was some neat tech and a wonderful hint system character (we love in-room characters). The puzzles were fun and creative and they all made sense. Highly recommended.
NevermoreNocturne AdventuresEscape roomIRLWe played this game after Ripper and it is a very different experience. Nevermore is more of a traditional escape room game…and it is terrific! The set design is amazing, but it’s the puzzles, the game flow, and the ambiance that truly make this an outstanding game. While Nocturne is based in the basement of a house, don’t let that sway you from playing there. Both games are must dos for anyone who enjoys escape rooms.
RipperNocturne AdventuresEscape roomIRLWe absolutely loved this game. We are not exactly into horror or scary games, so we really appreciate that Nocturne offers varying levels of scare to choose from when booking. We did the PG-13 Scary version and it was perfect for us. The difficulty of the puzzles and the flow of the game couldn’t be better. The live actors were amazing. We had SO much fun with this game. The owners are such a joy and their love of escape rooms is infectious. The fact that this place is in the basement of a house blows my mind. But don’t let that keep you away…their set up is legit and very professional. This game is for all players, new and experienced.
The Chesapeake Bay ButcherColonial Escape RoomEscape roomIRLScary games are not usually our thing, but this game was fantastic. The set design, game flow and puzzles were all very good. There are so many little things they do that makes this game exceptional, from leading you to where you need to go via lighting, to moving the story along in different ways…and there are scares, of course, which wasn’t over the top but did get us a few times. We also appreciated the (limited) live actor part of this game. Apparently, they have tweaked the game over time to improve it and I think they have it perfectly dialed in at this point.
Game NightCU Adventures in Time and SpaceEscape roomIRLOf the three games we played at CU Adventures, this was my favorite. The 80s nostalgia, the short time there is a live actor, the D&D fantasy vibe was all great. It’s not a perfect game, but it was a lot of fun for our group of four, who by the way have never played D&D.
The Casino Heist60 to Escape - MilwaukeeEscape roomIRLWe had fun in this game. While it is a pretty easy room for enthusiasts (we had over 22 minutes left), there is a wow moment with the set design at one point. That made it all worth it. It also had a few fun and interesting “casino games”.
Search For SasquatchBoxed In Escape Rooms - FestusEscape roomIRLWe’ve had good luck with Sasquatch themed rooms. This is our fourth one and they all have been great. This small town venue is a hidden gem. They have incredible set designs, and their staff are so friendly. This game has some neat surprises and the puzzles were really good. We needed a couple of hints (searching is our kryptonite) but made it out just the two of us with plenty of time. Everything made sense and flowed really well. Parts of the room are dim but the lanterns provide enough light. We highly recommend Boxed In and this game.
90s NostalgiaBoxed In Escape Rooms - FestusEscape roomIRLAfter nearly 300 rooms played all over the US, Boxed In has the best designed rooms of any small town we have played in. The set design of a 90s bedroom and video store was on point. Not all the puzzles hit it out of the park, but overall most of the puzzles, the flow, the nostalgia, and the set design made for a fantastically enjoyable game. We just wished they’d take the team photos in the rooms like so many other venues do these days.
Trouble In The Toy ShopEnchambered Live Escape Room AdventureEscape roomIRLThis is the perfect room for beginners. Two of us are enthusiasts and the third person on our team had never done an escape room (and she loved this one). We got out with a LOT of time left but still had a great experience. This one room game had it all for a whimsically good time: a fun intro, a very cute hint system, an adorable way to let you know how much time has passed, fun puzzles that fit the theme, and a great set design.
Ghost PatrolTrivium GamesEscape roomIRLThis game was a joy. There is a lot to like about it. It is challenging and the four of us barely made it through in time. While I absolutely loved this game, we would have liked it to be more “ghostly”.
