Escape Room Era - Anaheim

Add this room to your Halloween season itinerary. We had a lot of fun but there’s definitely room for improvement. The puzzles made sense. A device was not working properly and slowed us down but we were able to resolve the issue thanks to our host. There was an exciting moment that took me back to The Hide which was cool. The interactions with the actor was the heart of the experience. Liza did an amazing job playing different roles and also as our host. There was a task we completed but it was unclear how we solved it 🤷🏽‍♂️. This room could use more puzzles and more AC

I’ve only done one other vampire themed escape but this was the better one. The puzzles made sense and gained a lot of momentum at the start. There’s just one puzzle that took long to solve — tech was responding slowly. Not a scary room, just a spooky theme. They had tall ceilings, it would be cool if they built up. This was the first room we did with Chronos and it was a good first impression. I wish we were able to take our team photo in the room. We understand why but there are ways you could position people to hide any spoilers in the room. It’s a good room, so show it off :-)

This was my least favorite out of the three we did this round. We spent 20 minutes on the first puzzle not realizing a tech was not working properly. Once the issue was resolved this puzzle still took a long time to complete. Had to do some trial error first which chomped a big chunk of our time. The rest of the way was a smooth sail, quickly making up our time. There is an awesome surprise worth checking out! They don’t take your photos in their rooms which we understood but sometimes people look forward to the team photo showing off what we escape in the background.

Saved this for #200 and it was worth the wait, the drive, and every penny. My cheeks are still tired from all the smiling. Kip was our host and was also the puppeteer who brought the characters of Appleseed Avenue to life. During the game, you split into two teams: the detectives, and the medical examiners. At first it feels like you’re battling head to head but you’re also working together. With some techy equipment, the tasks were explained really well. It’s like playing Clue. Don’t miss out, check it out. Election Day is ranked high and now I could see why.

The layout of this room is just like the rest of their rooms. Production is consistent with the rest of their rooms. Facades with no ceilings (besides the actual ceiling). The puzzles are similar to any kind of whodunnit game. There were definitely some weak puzzles. We started off with a lot of momentum but as always a minor stretch slowed us down a bit. We enjoyed this room better than some others but there’s still room for improvement. The hospitality kinda sucks for those late night bookings because most of their crew went home and the few that were left were juggling some rooms. After we solved it, there was no one to escort us out, instead, a message popped up on the monitor telling us to show ourselves out. The lobby was empty and there was no one to take our picture, which is a tradition with our group. We usually love the interactions with our host after we do rooms so we were pretty bummed.

It’s not bad. We still had a lot of fun. Just isn’t their best room. Some choices were made on the design that’s kinda ick and could easily be improved. Props were made well but the rest of the room was just painted black and some vines hung down the sides of the walls. The placement of some things didn’t make sense. Our hostess was great. We were walk-ins and she got us onboard really fast. She also warned us of how dark the room was and many players struggled to find things in plain sight. That helped. Shannon surprised us when he took us into the room and sang to us with his instrument. Puzzles on the second half were better but the finale was anti-climactic. The room has potential but needs more improvements.

We had a lot of fun with this one. We’ve done a lot of their rooms and are familiar with their style so that helped us. We were expecting big leaps but it was fine. It was definitely on the easy side. I liked how the layout of the space was a little different from their down and back format. Everything made sense. The production was good. There were some pretty fun reveals. More startling than scary. I just didn’t like that we could see normal ceilings up top. This was definitely one of their better rooms. I still think the price for their rooms is too high. I’ve done some rooms that are priced the same but were definitely worth it. They do offer great discounts if you book another room afterwards. We took advantage of that :-)!
