Hatch Escapes
Escape room

This room’s been on my wishlist for almost a decade now and we finally played it and it does live up to its hype. We were immediately immersed into storytelling once we entered. The puzzles were straight forward, unique and satisfying to solve. The set design in the space was fun to explore. I liked how they used the space. I was like a kid in a toy store. Thomas was our host and he was great!
One Eyed Jack
Trapped! Escape Room - Las Vegas

This was a really fun room! The puzzles were creative, familiar to enthusiasts, and made sense. I loved knowing what puzzles to focus on next from the spotlights. The set design was amazing. Even though you could barely see the warehouse ceiling, it wasn’t enough to pull you out of the setting. This is a perfect room for anyone who wants to try a spooky room for the first time!

Stash House exceeded my expectations. I’ve had my eye on this room since pre-COVID and I finally had the opportunity to play it. Its location was a bit inconspicuous and it played its part in the storyline, especially at night. The hint system worked perfectly for the theme. It never felt like an actual hint. The puzzles were fun, well thought out, and very direct. There some fun surprises as well! Pham was our host and he was awesome. It’s always great talking about escape rooms with other ER fanatics.
The Hide
Escape Room Era - Anaheim
Escape room

Are you scared of the dark? I bet you would be in The Hide! My friends and I finally did this room and the suspense was a whole ‘nother level!!! Our host Zach did a great job setting the scene at the start and I was legit scared. He was also our serial killer!!! Giselly was the voice on the radio and guided us through the investigation! She definitely got our hearts beating like a nail! I normally don’t like using radios for hints but it was awesome with The Hide. The puzzles were straight forward but challenging in darkness. I’ve done a lot of scary rooms in the OC, some award winning ones and one with full contact, but The Hide really made my hair stick up. It’s definitely the rush from hiding and the not knowing what lurks in the darkness with you.
Santa’s Naughty or Nice List
Wild Goose Escapes - Irvine
Escape room

Checked out this room on opening weekend, just before the holiday season. There are still some remnants of their previous room “The House Next Door”. Some of the puzzles were familiar but there were some unique ones too. There are some really cool surprises you’ll encounter. Add this to your list of things to do for Christmas!
Olympus
Exodus Escape Room - Anaheim Hills, CA
Escape room

I’ve been looking for a room themed to Greek Mythology and here it is. I was a little hesitant to book because I thought their rooms were just alright. But this room was fun! The set design was cute, but definitely still room for improvement. I would love to see everything beefed up even more. The puzzles were fun, nothing that would cause analysis paralysis. We did dumb through one puzzle and solved it. This is mostly a gen 3 type room so there were no combination locks and relies on tech. One puzzle was busted and took some of our time and our hosts had to assist us. Any hints and assistance are displayed on a screen along with our time and are unlimited, but to get on the leader board, use 1 or no hints.
Wicked Wonderland

This was a really fun room! Every room was a kaleidoscope of color. It looked like they had fun with this paint job. There’s a lot of locks but they did a good job adding context to help players locate which puzzle opens which lock. All of the puzzles made sense. I loved the momentum towards the end!
Scooby-Doo and the Spooky Castle Adventure

This room was exciting and we had so much fun. The puzzles were fun and satisfying and I liked how it worked with the story. Good production design. Could definitely see this in a theme park.
The Haunted Terminal
Intrepid Escape Rooms
Escape room

This haunted version of the Terminal is way better in my opinion. My experience wasn’t the best when we did the original one. This one made up for it. It gives a bit of Scooby and Ghostbusting; great for the whole family. I recognized similar components from the previous version utilized differently. The puzzles made sense. Definitely easy for enthusiast. The effects in the room were cute. The “haunt” is a charming overlay I hope will be permanent.
Irvine School of Wizardry and the Goblin's Secrets
Hidden Donkey

The wait is finally over! This room has been stirring in the pot since the pandemic and it’s now open and I finally got to try it out. I like Goblins Secret more than their first room, Dragons Wand. I lost track of time as I was wandering through each space admiring the production quality of the props and set design. The puzzles are definitely an upgrade from their first room and I loved how well they worked with the story. There were some unique variations of similar puzzles I’ve seen from other rooms and that made it really fun! I would definitely come back and do this again! Also it will have another game mode that will open early next year and I can’t wait!!! It’ll definitely be worth the wait!!!
