Kip was our host and was also the puppeteer who brought the characters of Appleseed Avenue to life. During the game, you split into two teams: the detectives, and the medical examiners. At first it feels like you’re battling head to head but you’re also working together. With some techy equipment, the tasks were explained really well. It’s like playing Clue. Don’t miss out, check it out. Election Day is ranked high and now I could see why.
The Ghost Of MentryvilleArcane Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLCelebrating my 200s with the Ghost of Mentryville (Sam) and we had a blast. And what a unique experience! You’re with the Ghost the whole time helping them remember what happened. What you uncover will shock you and some choices will be made! There’s some really cool locks, maybe some belong in a museum cause they’re that old! The craftsmanship is amazing! We all left feeling “WOOOWW!!” Don’t miss out check it out!

Definitely creeped out with some of the props, set design, and smell. It really brought me to those rough times. I’m not hating on the house. It’s a cool original concept from Universal

I finished season 5 not too long ago so a lot of the scenes that were reenacted were fresh in my mind so it was exciting reliving some those epic scenes. The pacing was great for us. We didn’t feel left out.
SinnersHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseThis was one of favorite houses this year. Mostly because of the glowing eyes and some of the iconic scenes played out. The pacing in the maze could be controlled better. There were moments that stopped the flow but it was not too big of a deal. If this one comes back, they should build it somewhere else in the park.
HellraiserHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseI grew up watching this so seeing this in the flesh was pretty awesome! The pacing with the talent was really good. I felt like they were ganging up on me. I don’t scare easily but I did love the attention.

Evil Dead BurnHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseI haven’t seen the movie so I’m not sure what was going on. This was probably towards the bottom of my list but it wasn’t bad. The Scareactors were good as usual but the scenes just felt too redundant. Also the mask for the male Scareactors could be better.
Kapow KomicsCloud EscapeEscape roomIRLPretty fun room. It’s non-linear which can be a bit challenging figuring out what goes with what. You could easily be solving something with wrong information. We figured it out eventually and it all makes sense. Some satisfying solves! You don’t need to know anything about comics to play this. It does get a bit warm in there with the 3 of us, we were sweating at the end.
ElixirExodus Escape Room - Anaheim Hills, CAEscape roomIRL#198. We did this room when it was themed to Frosty and most of it was familiar and we still had fun. There’s a whole lot to do in a small space. Ambient lighting made it immersive and was enough for us to see. The puzzles were pretty straight forward and easy for us enthusiasts. This is a great room for first timers! I just wish it expanded into other rooms, I wanted to keep going.
Crime Scene: Murder in LAEscapology - Universal CityEscape roomIRLThe layout of this room is just like the rest of their rooms. Production is consistent with the rest of their rooms. Facades with no ceilings (besides the actual ceiling). The puzzles are similar to any kind of whodunnit game. There were definitely some weak puzzles. We started off with a lot of momentum but as always a minor stretch slowed us down a bit. We enjoyed this room better than some others but there’s still room for improvement. The hospitality kinda sucks for those late night bookings because most of their crew went home and the few that were left were juggling some rooms. After we solved it, there was no one to escort us out, instead, a message popped up on the monitor telling us to show ourselves out. The lobby was empty and there was no one to take our picture, which is a tradition with our group. We usually love the interactions with our host after we do rooms so we were pretty bummed.
Wicked Witch60Out - Silver LakeEscape roomIRLIt’s not bad. We still had a lot of fun. Just isn’t their best room. Some choices were made on the design that’s kinda ick and could easily be improved. Props were made well but the rest of the room was just painted black and some vines hung down the sides of the walls. The placement of some things didn’t make sense. Our hostess was great. We were walk-ins and she got us onboard really fast. She also warned us of how dark the room was and many players struggled to find things in plain sight. That helped. Shannon surprised us when he took us into the room and sang to us with his instrument. Puzzles on the second half were better but the finale was anti-climactic. The room has potential but needs more improvements.
Haunted HouseEscapology - Universal CityEscape roomIRLWe had a lot of fun with this one. We’ve done a lot of their rooms and are familiar with their style so that helped us. We were expecting big leaps but it was fine. It was definitely on the easy side. I liked how the layout of the space was a little different from their down and back format. Everything made sense. The production was good. There were some pretty fun reveals. More startling than scary. I just didn’t like that we could see normal ceilings up top. This was definitely one of their better rooms. I still think the price for their rooms is too high. I’ve done some rooms that are priced the same but were definitely worth it. They do offer great discounts if you book another room afterwards. We took advantage of that :-)!
Lost CityEscapology - Universal CityEscape roomIRLI loved watching Legend of the Hidden Temple, so this room sounded interesting. The puzzles were fun and the set design was cool. Unfortunately there was a malfunction on one of the techs and it had to be bypassed. After we solved the last puzzle, they sent a message on the screen to show ourselves out and return to the lobby which was very different. We didn’t get to take a victory pic in the room.
A Pirate's CurseEscapology - Universal CityEscape roomIRLThis is one of my favorites from here, especially the pirates theme. The puzzles were fun and made sense, although it’s easy to get things mixed up with so much going on in one space. Again, a lot of free nudges, a lot of them validated we were doing it right. The set design is a lot better than most of their rooms.
Mansion MurderEscapology - Universal CityEscape roomIRLThe puzzles were fun and some of them had us scratching our heads. It was surprising to solve some of them ourselves knowing that it was a struggle. The set design in the first room was really nice. And then was the second room with the books :-/. Not real books. Not a huge fan of wallpapered bookshelves lol. Still if you could get passed that you’ll still have fun.
Who Stole Mona?Escapology - Universal CityEscape roomIRLThis is probably not one of my favorites since it’s only in one room. At least it’s a pretty decent sized room for bigger groups. Like some of their rooms, there were some big leaps. They did give a lot of free nudges, which helped validate we were on the right track. I’m not a fan of math and of course there was a math puzzle, but it wasn’t too bad. We had to double triple check our work. The lazers at the end were pretty cool but the puzzle was very underwhelming.
7 Deadly SinsEscapology - Universal CityEscape roomIRLMy first thought after entering the room was how can you fit more than 3 in this room. It got a little toasty with just the 3 of us. Definitely don’t do this with more than 4 unless you thrive in chaos. There were a few tech glitches when the video played but nothing too crazy. We had a lot of momentum at the beginning until one slowed us down. We could have solved it on our own but we got a free nudge, which we don’t mind. There were some leaps of logic with a few of their puzzles. Be prepared to burn your brain!
