Witchly Ever AfterOmescape - San JoseEscape roomIRLIt was a cute concept, very linear. Wished there was a bit more challenge to some things, one puzzle was too tedious. Overall a very simple but fun room.
Motel MollyOmescape - San JoseEscape roomIRLFun theming and design. We had fun with it, especially a few parts (no spoilers). The puzzles were pretty easy.
Back to ChildhoodClockwise Escape Room - PleasantonEscape roomIRLVery fun room, puzzles not too hard but we had a fun time playing. Everything worked and functioned well. As repeated, the retro nostalgia design was a lot of fun. Our GM was very friendly and adapting to our request on hints (we prefer very small nudges if needed).
Three KingdomsClockwise Escape Room - PleasantonEscape roomIRLReally loved the crafted art and room designs of this one. The puzzles were not too hard and functioned well. We enjoyed playing as a 3 person group. GM was very friendly. Props were great and we had a blast playing.
Timeliner: Train Through TimeThe Escape Game - MilpitasEscape roomIRLOverall I’d give this an 7/10. Really liked the set and theme of this room. Good mix of puzzles and types. We hit a couple hard places but enjoyed the challenge once we realized the solution was staring us in the face. Had fun moving through different times and interacting with each zones puzzles.
Cosmic CrisisThe Escape Game - MilpitasEscape roomIRLOverall our group gave the room a 5/10. The room design was fun, the set had a good themed design. We hit a couple parts that just had a really poor clue system. The other issue was preset clues that when we had to ask for a hint, it told us to find the thing we were already holding and using- which was not helpful at all. The other problem we solved but never heard or saw the result occur so we ended up wasting time to the point the GM had to let us know to move on. I’m still not convinced the thing we were supposed to use wasn’t broke and they just made a bad alter solution. But it did end well and we enjoyed the conclusion.
Prison BreakEscape Room 66 - Laguna HillsEscape roomIRLReally enjoyed this room! The puzzles flow well and have fun elements to them. They also have varying degrees of difficulty which I appreciate still running into new ones that challenge me. The owner is very friendly and we had a great chat with her. Room was decorated well for theme and had fun props. Solving the room ends pretty sweet as well!
Twenty Ghosts of ChristmasBrain Games Escape RoomEscape roomIRLOverall the room was fun. Bit of a sandbox for puzzles where some could be done simultaneously while others needed teamwork to solve. There was one puzzle that to me needed some outside skill to solve but you can dumb luck/brute force your way eventually through it as our group did. That was frustrating. And there was a “puzzle” that was a bit of a time suck, but can see how in a large group this might be better. Overall though the room was fun and the GM was great. Design/theme of the room was good and it’s fun if you like to solve a bunch of puzzles.
The Collector13th Gate EscapeEscape roomIRLVery linear and QR code for hint system. Not a huge fan of the hint system as it pulls you out of the experience and limits what you’re given as a hint. Half the time my group knew what we’re looking for and I’d rather a GM helped nudged me towards what we need vs a clue that only gives you one set hint then solves. The room had great elements that saves this review to a “like”.
Whatever Happened To The Garretts?Maze Rooms - West LAEscape roomIRLThis room started a little frustrating for me- part was my groups failure at search and find (which is our own faults) but it went back to back with a puzzle that didn’t work well. We solved it but it didn’t work- the GM had to prompt us to do it again- which to me is failure on the rooms part. But once we moved on it got better with the flow and we ended up enjoying the room overall. I was surprised on the set/ambiance after the first part, it was some fun/neat puzzles to solve. It provided some moments of our group laughing at ourselves and our lack of “skills”. But we did manage to freak solve a puzzle before we even knew what it was- basically that 100 to one “no way anyone would get this without following the directions” moment, which I’m kind of proud of!
