Cornstalkers: Lost in the MaizeThe Escape Ventures - Orlando Waterford LakesEscape roomIRLReally enjoyed this room! The set and atmosphere are really good, and the actors are great! We had a lot of fun with them. The props worked as intended and flowed pretty well on game play. We did it as a team of 4 and felt like we all played equally and didn’t miss out on anything either.
Witchly Ever AfterOmescape - San JoseEscape roomIRLIt was a cute concept, very linear. Wished there was a bit more challenge to some things, one puzzle was too tedious. Overall a very simple but fun room.
Motel MollyOmescape - San JoseEscape roomIRLFun theming and design. We had fun with it, especially a few parts (no spoilers). The puzzles were pretty easy.
Back to ChildhoodClockwise Escape Room - PleasantonEscape roomIRLVery fun room, puzzles not too hard but we had a fun time playing. Everything worked and functioned well. As repeated, the retro nostalgia design was a lot of fun. Our GM was very friendly and adapting to our request on hints (we prefer very small nudges if needed).
Three KingdomsClockwise Escape Room - PleasantonEscape roomIRLReally loved the crafted art and room designs of this one. The puzzles were not too hard and functioned well. We enjoyed playing as a 3 person group. GM was very friendly. Props were great and we had a blast playing.
Timeliner: Train Through TimeThe Escape Game - MilpitasEscape roomIRLOverall I’d give this an 7/10. Really liked the set and theme of this room. Good mix of puzzles and types. We hit a couple hard places but enjoyed the challenge once we realized the solution was staring us in the face. Had fun moving through different times and interacting with each zones puzzles.
Cosmic CrisisThe Escape Game - MilpitasEscape roomIRLOverall our group gave the room a 5/10. The room design was fun, the set had a good themed design. We hit a couple parts that just had a really poor clue system. The other issue was preset clues that when we had to ask for a hint, it told us to find the thing we were already holding and using- which was not helpful at all. The other problem we solved but never heard or saw the result occur so we ended up wasting time to the point the GM had to let us know to move on. I’m still not convinced the thing we were supposed to use wasn’t broke and they just made a bad alter solution. But it did end well and we enjoyed the conclusion.
Prison BreakEscape Room 66 - Laguna HillsEscape roomIRLReally enjoyed this room! The puzzles flow well and have fun elements to them. They also have varying degrees of difficulty which I appreciate still running into new ones that challenge me. The owner is very friendly and we had a great chat with her. Room was decorated well for theme and had fun props. Solving the room ends pretty sweet as well!
Ghost StoriesBrain Games Escape RoomEscape roomIRLOverall the room was fun. Bit of a sandbox for puzzles where some could be done simultaneously while others needed teamwork to solve. There was one puzzle that to me needed some outside skill to solve but you can dumb luck/brute force your way eventually through it as our group did. That was frustrating. And there was a “puzzle” that was a bit of a time suck, but can see how in a large group this might be better. Overall though the room was fun and the GM was great. Design/theme of the room was good and it’s fun if you like to solve a bunch of puzzles.
The Collector13th Gate EscapeEscape roomIRLVery linear and QR code for hint system. Not a huge fan of the hint system as it pulls you out of the experience and limits what you’re given as a hint. Half the time my group knew what we’re looking for and I’d rather a GM helped nudged me towards what we need vs a clue that only gives you one set hint then solves. The room had great elements that saves this review to a “like”.
Whatever Happened To The Garretts?Maze Rooms - West LAEscape roomIRLThis room started a little frustrating for me- part was my groups failure at search and find (which is our own faults) but it went back to back with a puzzle that didn’t work well. We solved it but it didn’t work- the GM had to prompt us to do it again- which to me is failure on the rooms part. But once we moved on it got better with the flow and we ended up enjoying the room overall. I was surprised on the set/ambiance after the first part, it was some fun/neat puzzles to solve. It provided some moments of our group laughing at ourselves and our lack of “skills”. But we did manage to freak solve a puzzle before we even knew what it was- basically that 100 to one “no way anyone would get this without following the directions” moment, which I’m kind of proud of!
Enchanted [prev. Warlocked]Redondo Beach [prev. Quest Room]Escape roomIRLReally a great set up, high quality sets and a great variety of puzzles. The actor added a fun element did a great job. There are even special puzzles that give things used later which add another level of dimension to the fun. Definitely a room that could be replayed if you skip any of the puzzles. We had one puzzle that didn’t work correctly as we went through but overall it was a lot of fun.
TombstoneMaze Rooms - West LAEscape roomIRLReally enjoyed this room. The ambiance was great, and the design was high quality. Good mix of puzzle types which I enjoy. My group actually solved a puzzle meant for later in the game, by completing it earlier/faster than normal, but it still didn’t interrupt the flow for us, which I think attests to how well the room is set up. GM was friendly and showed us some things at the end we talked about during the game, which was cool of him to remember.
Turing Test60Out - KoreatownEscape roomIRLThis room started great then went downhill fast for me. It has so much potential to be great too. Lots of communication skills and cooperation needed, which was cool. However we had multiple things not work which was annoying. We also had a puzzle pop early which confused us, then later when we needed it- it became “unusable” for what it needed to do. There were also details in the room that we found out after we’re a puzzle taken out- but the clues were left in the room. Also a safety concern as you’re in multiple locked rooms but there is no safety escape button provided. If there was anything wrong or you just had an anxiety attack- you’re left to the mercy of hoping a building wide “safety default” would open the doors for you, or you’re waiting on a GM to come get you… also our GM was clearly running 2 rooms at the same time so was distracted and didn’t answer us a few times or provide the prompts you need at the right time so it delays your time. Really could have been a cool room.
The Spell Breakers - CLOSEDQuest Room - KoreatownEscape roomIRLWe played the adult dark mode. After reading conflicting reviews about how it can get weirdly sexual vs dark humor- we talked to the GM and they were super nice and worked with us on how to run the room. Ambiance and sets were great. The interactions were hilarious and we were cracking up throughout the room. You are required to do things to get help so be prepared for that. This is more 50/50 on puzzles vs play interaction as well. Story was fun and we had a great GM. Definitely a fun time if you have a great group willing to get into it!
Odditorium Emporium - CLOSEDEscapeX Rooms - Costa MesaEscape roomIRLAbsolutely loved this! So much fun, very interactive. Great variety of puzzles, excellent GM.
13th BasementExit Game OC - AnaheimEscape roomIRLVery creative, very fun! Unique puzzles made this a blast!
The Magic CottageInfinity EscapeEscape roomIRLReally liked the build/props of the room. I would have said this was a beginner/easy level room, yet at the end the GM told us many experienced players don’t escape or need so many hints. The details and storyline made this fun though.
The StudyTHE BASEMENT: A Live Escape Room Experience - SylmarEscape roomIRLI enjoyed the room, the actor was great. However you lose a lot of time waiting on the actor to finish the hints. Our group would have escaped as we were on the last puzzle but ran out of time. That time lost waiting on hints would have got us out.
The BasementTHE BASEMENT: A Live Escape Room Experience - SylmarEscape roomIRLReally enjoyed this one. The actor was fantastic and really added to the experience. Good amount of variety and skills needed. Had a blast!
