Martha: The Haunting Of Derwent ManorDeliverance Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLGreat fun in a spooky but not terrifying environment. It was a bit dark to see at times, which went with the theme, but also made it difficult. Good decor, the puzzles fitted the theme & great fun. Just missing an “aha, we’ve done!” moment though!
Doll HouseTake The ExitEscape roomIRLCreepy rather than spooky, make sure you look closely as you search so that you don’t miss anything!
The ChapelTake The ExitEscape roomIRLAn unusual theme, after some nuns died by suicide some years ago, you’re investigating to see whether you can return some relics & free their souls.
Trials Of Osiris: Family Friendly Escape RoomTake The ExitEscape roomIRLMy favourite of their rooms by a really long way, this one seemed to be our kind of logic & the decor was stronger than in the other rooms. A fab theme & decent execution, which was lots of fun.
Shack of SoulsThe No Work ClubEscape roomIRLThis room is deliberately dark- so dark you can’t see to do the puzzles, and you’re advised from the start to use torches on your phones. If you need torches, they should be written into the game & provided, and that’s what keeps this a 👍🏻 rather than a 🩷 for me. Other than that it was good with some novel puzzles requiring good team work & comms to achieve things between you. There were some lanterns fixed in places in the room & some strangely shaped things (one with a symbol on it) next to them- but apparently they’re not part of the game, which was odd. This room has better decor than some of the others here, but if something no longer works or is in play, please get rid of it so people don’t waste time on it!
Inmate 7635The No Work ClubEscape roomIRLI was going to chalk this one up as being “meh” as the puzzles themselves weren’t bad per se, but the lack of story & the fact that you get no sound or indication to let you know that what you’ve just done has unlocked the next stage etc, that we wasted a lot of time trying to complete puzzles needlessly as we’d already opened something- we just didn’t know it. As I moved through the more detailed review stages above, unfortunately I have to recognise that this one isn’t great. Like with some of their other rooms, the van would benefit from a little TLC & certainly doesn’t showcase how good their venue is overall. Top points for novelty value, but the broken things, lack of indication that anything has happened & lack of a story really didn’t inspire us.
Wickedly Oz - CLOSEDBreak EscapeEscape roomIRLThis room has some great reviews, so I was concerned it’d not live up to its reputation…I needn’t have worried as it is absolutely amazing! Fab decor, some brilliant & innovative elements which leave you oblivious to the outside world or where you are in comparison to where you’ve been- & super GM-ing by Anaïs (thank you!), this quirky room REALLY hits the mark!
The Elixir VitaeBreak EscapeEscape roomIRLThe set for this room is really fun & fits the theme perfectly. It is a little confusing at times, working out what you need to use for each area, but the mix of puzzles is superb (think Crystal Maze, with physical, skill, mystery etc & you’ll be about right) & you’ll need to use all your senses! Fab GM (thank you Anaïs!) made it so-able even when we (me!) were a bit confused!
CreaturesBreak EscapeEscape roomIRLThis room felt a lot more confusing than the others we’ve done here- though this might just be me?! Some of the puzzles themselves are really fun & different, though I had a lot of confusion about what we needed to do next, or what we’d just achieved when we solved something- which took the edge off this room for me. Not a bad room, but I didn’t think it was as good as some of their others & my brain clearly just doesn’t seem to work in the same way as the designer of this room. 🤯 I did however really like the player portal, which gives you access to not only to your photos, but also to stats about your game play!
Operation Hercules - CLOSEDMission ClassifiedEscape roomIRLAs with Mission Classified’s other rooms, the puzzles are well thought through & fit the theme, and the hosts were really engaging & fun, so a brilliant experience.
Easter High School - CLOSEDMission ClassifiedEscape roomIRLWork your way through the classroom challenges to earn a sweet Easter treat! If you master the main challenge, you get to work through as much homework as you can, in the hope of winning the golden egg & a super sweet surprise! Perfectly themed & with plenty to do, this is a fab way to spend an hour.
7 Miles DeepThe No Work ClubEscape roomIRLThis is only the second submarine themed room we’ve done. The set made brilliant use of the shipping container which houses it, and you can picture that you’re in a submarine.
Quest of the WorthyThe No Work ClubEscape roomIRLA fun room which maybe needs a little decor TLC, but was still really good. Novel Norse explorer theme & a unique wall puzzle were enjoyable.
Red Rock Reloaded - CLOSEDMission ClassifiedEscape roomIRLWith a lot of rushing around, we managed to get 23 gems as a team of two & thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. It’s a busy room with lots of things you don’t need until the second part- but they’re clearly labelled. The interaction with an actor throughout was unexpected, but made this, and his in character tips & chatter made this really fun.
Project IcemanCave EscapeEscape roomIRLI did this as part of a much bigger team than usual (5) & it was a first escape experience for the others, which made this a really different challenge to normal! The theme is unusual & fab, and the decor (both in reception & the room) is lovely. We floundered a little & were probably never on track to get out, but enjoyed it all the same.
The Sacrifice - CLOSEDThe Panic Room 2 - The GroveEscape roomPortableThis was parked down a little alleyway, tucked away behind all the other buildings & outside an indoor escape room, which was a really good setting for such a room! The van is kitted out superbly- you can’t really recognise its previous use as it’s been transformed so well. This is a quick fire, relatively simple room compared to some of their others, which still has a couple of sneaky things to keep you on your toes. No live actors, this isn’t as creepy or scary as the title suggests- unless your friends make you jump! Great GM work playing the part well from the moment we arrived made this immersive experience really fun! We hope you get out safely…
The Don's RevengeThe Panic Room 3 - St Georges CentreEscape roomIRLThe room is really well themed & you’re encouraged to get into character with a prop & dressed up GM before you even go in. Beautiful decor, the clues (once you’ve figured them out!) are so obvious, yet somehow sneaky, that you cannot understand why you didn’t immediately recognise them- but they really make you think. Multi room fun which links together as a very satisfying experience.
Whodunit: Hotel Homicide - CLOSEDThe Panic Room Don't Panic - Gift ShopEscape roomIRLThis room felt like it should have been that difficult- but somehow it was! 🤦🏼♀️ Even when we’d got the end & solved the murder, I didn’t realise we’d solved it & still felt very confused about what we did with their name! There are some really straight forward things, and some far more complicated seeming things, which left me scratching my head throughout. The set is nicely done, the GM was fab, but some of the puzzles in this room just didn’t work in the same way as my brain & the amount of stuff we had to read made this tricky.
Lab Rats - CLOSEDThe Panic Room Don't Panic - Gift ShopEscape roomIRLWe proved we were a tiny weeny bit more intelligent than rats- but only just! Solve the colour coded puzzles to open the padlock, the release the rat to unlock the golden cheese. This is a small room which has some quick hit puzzles- & some which take a tiny bit more brain power! The clue system is cool in that it is self administered. Maybe that what helped us triumph over the rats, given that they can’t read?!
Rhyming RoomOne Way OutEscape roomIRLThe rhyming room starts with a rhyming briefing, before you’re straight into this sweet treat! The beauty of the rooms here is the signposting- if you look at things properly everything should become clear as it’s so brilliantly put together and logical. That said, logic doesn’t always take precedence in the excitement of the moment & the GM was fab at providing a hint where we needed one (by a quirky delivery system) whilst leaving us to work other things out where we could. All in all, a REALLY enjoyable room which uses all your senses & has some super memorable science thrown in! Book, book, book!
