A Christmas Story

Room had a delightful Christmas scent when we entered, and was nicely decorated. We made sure to watch the movie before we did this room, and it definitely contributed to the experience! As a party of two with a decent amount of escape room experience, we completed it fairly easily and quickly. I think a party of 3 might be okay too, but more than that would not give you enough to do. Room was fairly linear, and the connections between the puzzles wasn't always the most clear, but with that said, there wasn't really any part we got stumped on (other than when I couldn't get a lock open even though the code was correct 😂).

While I enjoyed the decor and theme of the escape room, I was underwhelmed by the gameplay. The puzzles felt unnecessarily tedious, and a few of them required some leaps in logic that were hard to follow. Even when the direction was provided through a clue, there was no "aha!" moment for me. As a result, I left feeling a bit frustrated and tired, which is not the usual feeling I have after an escape room. Despite all this, I want to emphasize that the staff was friendly and helpful when we needed a clue. The owner who greeted us, was also very welcoming, and the lobby was comfortable and inviting. I still hope to give this place another shot because I love that they are local business who makes their own rooms, and they have come so highly recommended! I honestly think just a few small tweaks could turn this room into at least a thumbs up for me, but that wasn't my experience today.

This game was extremely fun! Lots of interactive puzzles and a playful story. I recommend all the games at this location, and this one is no exception!

Playful room that I found challenging enough to be interesting, and smooth enough to create a good cadence of experience from puzzle to puzzle. Doldricks tends to have an engaging selection of traditional combination lock puzzles alongside puzzles featuring mixed media and technology.

This was an absolute delight! The transformation of their usual room for this Christmas pop up was well done. It was very fun to do and helped put us in the Holiday spirit.

Had a lot of fun in this room. Pretty straight forward, no issues or confusion for our group of three. Atmosphere was great. Story and theming of the puzzles were great.

Whew! Barely made it out of this one!! I loved the interactivity. The atmosphere and decor was on point. One of the puzzles in there was an absolute joy to crack. It had a couple layers of complexity, but when we got it, it was so satisfying! Very FUN. Love all the Escape Ventures Easter Eggs 😏

We played all three rooms at Nexus in one night! It was an absolute blast. This was the third of the three rooms we played and this was my third favorite. It was a unique and immersive set design, and non linear game play which is always my preference. Based on my experience I think I would recommend playing this room first if you were going to go for all three. If you could only do a room or two while you are in town, I felt the other two were stronger - although with that said, depending on your situation, one is scary, and one is adult themed, so this one would be your best bet of you needed something more neutral!

I LOVED this room! The flow of the puzzles and the puzzles themselves were so fun to me! I have no notes. This is one of my favourite rooms to date!
