Rocky Point ParkRI Riddle RoomEscape roomIRLThis room was so much fun, with so many unique puzzles! We played the first room way too slow and ended up going over by a few minutes. But yeah, this room is so cool. I'm not from that area so I had no connection to the real Rocky Point amusement park, but this room portrays an amusement park so well. And there is a storyline embedded in this room that is beyond just playing at an amusement park, and they did a great job of incorporating it into the puzzles. I had some high expectations for this room, and they exceeded them.
Imaginasium of IntrigueRI Riddle RoomEscape roomIRLThis was a fun room with an over-arching storyline, but the storyline isn't front and center in each room. Each room is themed differently, and that keeps each room a fresh experience. The puzzles were great for each room, and the room's finale was a total blast. There are bonus puzzles you can complete to earn more points which was cool way of optionally adding difficulty to the room.
Monster in the MuseumRI Riddle RoomEscape roomIRLWe played this room the first day it was open to the public. We had fun playing it, and while it was good, I know it has the potential to be great. This room was built from within, and you can see and feel the love through their work. The staff has the drive to keep improving the room even after each playthrough. The puzzles were authentically connected to the theme of the room and provided our group the opportunity to split up and solve them.
Vanishing at The VelmontRI Riddle RoomEscape roomIRLThis room sounds spookier than it really is. But the storyline was supported by the puzzles and the theming. The "hotel" was dark enough to give it a foreboding ambiance, but light enough to not set you on edge. Puzzles and lock placement made sense, nothing was ever too far from each other. We didn't come across anything that made us go, "What the heck does this go to?" So the puzzle flow was right on point. From start to finish, it was a smooth room and great for couples.
Forest of FortuneRI Riddle RoomEscape roomIRLThis was the last room of our day-long visit to play all the rooms at Riddle Room, and what an absolute blast we had playing this one. The puzzles were unique and even a maze puzzle that was something I hadn't seen before. I even tried to avoid the maze puzzle (because they aren't exactly my favorite) so I ended up on the other side and was then still able to help with it because of the intuitive way it was set up. The in-game host animatronic is a bit sassy, and we loved it. And honestly, the best way I've ever seen a handheld black light incorporated in any room. Puzzles were challenging enough to take some time, but we never hit a wall where we didn't know how to solve anything. My wife and I had an absolute blast and we're still talking about this room days after coming back home.
The Cellar: Dead End [prev. The Cellar II: Saul's Revenge]Prodigy Puzzles Escape Rooms [prev. Mystery Soup Escape Rooms, Lock & Clue]Escape roomIRLThis room was such a blast to play. I went in initially worried about how scary it would be. Much to my surprise, what scares you can also make you laugh depending on how you react to Mr. Giggles', umm, constructive criticism. They do a great job of not trying to scare you while you're working on puzzles, and because they play it this way, the puzzles need to be good as they really stand on their own, and they do just that. The puzzles worked well with the theme, and nothing felt like a reach. My wife and I played this room as a group of two, and I believe we did quite well.
A Very Merry MysteryProdigy Puzzles Escape Rooms [prev. Mystery Soup Escape Rooms, Lock & Clue]Escape roomIRLThis room was a complete blast! The room was perfectly themed and immaculate. This was the last room we did at Mystery Soup and it was the cherry on the top of a perfect day of escape rooms. This is an easier room, and therefore the puzzle flow was quite smooth. There is a great mix of tech and mechanical puzzles. Also, if you complete the room, your reward is mighty tasty. From start to finish, the room just flowed perfectly. It is such a great family friendly room, and I'm just a sucker for a great Christmas themed room. This hits it out of the park!
THE ENDings [Immersive Experience] - CLOSEDStrange Bird ImmersiveEscape roomOther This was an incredible experience. From when you walk in the door till the time you walk out, complete immersion. The interview starts to get you into the mood of the environment, and then you begin your story…or stories. This is like an adult, choose your own adventure book, but on steroids set in what seems like a boring office space. My wife and I flew from FL to do this before it closes and we are so happy with that choice. Do this before it closes! And when you get done, do it again! That’s my only regret is that I didn’t book it for multiple sessions.
DreamEscape Artists - OrlandoEscape roomIRLThis was a very fun experience, and great for a date night. The surrounding neighborhood is great. The room is challenging and each level of subconscious offers new theming and varying puzzles which keeps it all fresh. You could do this with more than two, but I’d suggest no more than three, four might be a stretch.
Bros for Life: Fraternity HeistThe Escape Ventures - Orlando Waterford LakesEscape roomIRLThis was a very fun room. They did a great job of packing in a variety of puzzles in each room, and each room served its part to drive the story. This was the last room for us to do at TEV’s Orlando location (until their 6th room opens) and this was probably ranks 4th out of their five rooms for me. That’s not a slight at all either. All their rooms are top notch. If you’re wondering if you should play this room, Yes, yes you should. If you’re thinking about playing a different room at TEV, the answer is YES, you should. Any room, all the rooms, you can’t go wrong.
Operation Treehouse: Capture the FlagThe Escape Ventures - Winter Garden [prev. Escape Goat]Escape roomIRLThis was such a fun room to do. We did it on Escape Goat’s last day. The staff was very nice and though it is sad that Escape Goat closed down, I know Escape Ventures will take great care of their games, including this one. This is a non-linear game with some wonderful injections of humor. The theming is spot on. There were a lot of puzzles but with a solid team of 4+ you can get through it without a panic. This room was so much fun we’re coming back to do it again with some other family members.
Rise of the FungiHeadlock Escape Rooms OnlineEscape roomVirtual This was our second virtual escape room, and we booked this just hours after finishing our first one, which was this game’s sequel. Again the puzzles, story, flow, and cut scenes were great and gave us another great experience. I hope both of these games come back in some form or fashion.
The Keeper And The Fungus Among UsHeadlock Escape Rooms OnlineEscape roomVirtual This was our first virtual escape room, and it was a blast. Joel was amazing and we were smiling ear to ear and laughing the entire time. The puzzles weren’t difficult but challenging enough to make you stop and think for a minute to two. The story, flow, and cut scenes were perfect.
The BasementThe Ocala EscapeEscape roomIRLThis was our first horror game and also the first game we did with just the two of us. The room is small and it is great for couples of maybe a team of 3. It is good mix of tech and mechanical locks. A couple of puzzles took us a bit longer to solve than others, so that slowed us down, but I think that was more of us overthinking than the design. It had a couple of spooky/scary moments that I won’t spoil, but they definitely had me “checking” my surroundings from time to time. If you play it, you’ll figure out what I mean. We definitely enjoyed the rush of adrenaline that the suspense gave us. We had a great game master, and we enjoyed the souvenir we got to take with us. We enjoy Ocala Escape, their rooms and their staff are great.
Scooby-Doo™ and the Spooky Castle AdventureEscapology - GainesvilleEscape roomIRLI’ve done two other games at this same location and this was by far the best one. It was fun and well designed. Enthusiasts may not “love” this room, but they will enjoy it. Those new to escape rooms will find it fun and challenging, and even more importantly, will come out wanting to do more escape rooms.
Strange MagicMind MastersEscape roomIRLThis room was our first single-room experience but they pack it with great puzzles and some tech that made me feel like I was actually using magic. This is a very good room, with a lot of thought put into each puzzle as well as the set. But the moment of “magic” pushes this room to the next level up for me. I can’t wait to see the next room this team opens.
Servants of SleightThe Escape Ventures - Clearwater [prev. The Exit Games]Escape roomIRLThis was a phenomenal experience, and definitely in my top tier of rooms I've played. I can't wait to take on their other room, Pins and Needles, and anxiously awaiting their third game. You get such a complete experience with the great theming and the 90 minute time limit.
Masters Of MagicGatlin's Escape Games - The VillageEscape roomIRLThis is a challenging room, be ready to climb some stairs. Great puzzles and amazing sequences between rooms. We did this room with just my wife, myself, and our 7yr old daughter. We probably could have done much better if we had another adult, so definitely need 3-4 people to do this room.
Big Maw Bertha's Fussin' & A' Feudin' Moonshine Hill HootenannyGatlin's Escape Games - Downtown GatlinburgEscape roomIRLThis room was a hoot! This is a public room, so my wife, myself, and our 7yr old daughter were joined by a mother and son duo, and we all had a blast in this room. So many practical puzzles that fit into the story so well. The story was funny, and our GM was amazing.
Ruins: Forbidden TreasureThe Escape Game - Berry HillEscape roomIRLWe took a vacation to Tennessee, and included Nashville in the trip so that we could do this room. It was everything I read it to be and more. As a fan of Indiana Jones growing up, this room made me felt like I was in the movies. Amazing set design and great puzzles that kept the flow going.
