WitchThe Escape KeyEscape roomIRLA bit creepy and atmospheric in the shadow of the old church and graveyard. The game flowed beautifully and the puzzles just made sense to us. Completely linear with minimal padlocks and lots of rewarding puzzle solves. We love to visit The Escape Key and are looking forward to seeing what comes next.
The DetentionJust In Tyne EscapeEscape roomIRLIt was a genuine please to visit Just in Tyne. The folks here are a joy and it was really wonderful to talk about the rooms here and all of our combined experiences after our games. We did the double header and started with The Detention. This is a brilliant room that’s full of humour and fun nods to the movie which inspired it. It’s not an easy room though and we found ourselves stumped a few times. The boys made us feel better by explaining the game can be set to different difficulty levels and assured us we did the most difficult. We still needed a few extra minutes to crack the room but that was mostly due to our ability to overcomplicate things. We thoroughly enjoyed the puzzles and felt there was plenty to do for a full hour.
A Brief CaseJust In Tyne EscapeEscape roomIRLIt was a genuine please to visit Just in Tyne. The folks here are a joy and it was really wonderful to talk about the rooms here and all of our combined experiences after our games. We did the double header and finished with A Brief Case. What Silas has created here is an exceptional experience. His love of puzzles, sense of humour and passion for high quality builds and experiences shines through in every aspect of this room. We were initially quite overwhelmed and thought this room was beyond us but there were constant aha! moments and opportunities to feel almost smart. Gradually we were working through tasks and finding connections and logic that started to build to a solution. It was just a wonderful way to spend a day and we can’t wait to see what Silas designs and creates next. We will look forward to returning. If you love everything escape room but not had the pleasure of visiting this wonderful, local company yet then we’d highly recommend you do.
OrbitalBreak Escape Nottingham - Market StreetEscape roomIRLA brilliant game set on a spacecraft. Some really fun puzzles and great signposting throughout. Sometimes our observational skills and old eyes let us down but Lia was on hand to point us in the right direction. She really was a super GM and a real credit to the company. This was our favourite game at this location but that’s just personal choice and perhaps a better match of skills. A really fun and highly recommended room.
Daylight RobberyBreak Escape Nottingham - Upper Parliament Street [prev. Cryptology]Escape roomIRLA really great grab the loot game. The location is the perfect setting of a real bank vault. The puzzles weren’t necessarily hard just plentiful and fun. There was some nice humour intertwined and excellent signposting throughout. We completed some tasks independently and some as a pair but were busy for the full 90 minutes. We were initially concerned about the lasers but they’re ok so don’t let it put you off either. We really enjoyed all of our visits to this company and would highly recommend them and all of the games we did. This was our favourite at this location.
Choco-lateBreak Escape Nottingham - Market StreetEscape roomIRLWe did Choco-late on the back of Robin Hood and found although we loved both, this suited our style and our ‘skills’ far better. Like all Break Escape games that we have visited, the room is beautifully decorated and themed so that you’ve always something to look at. What made this experience stand out was superb hosting from Ant who used humour to keep nudging us in the right direction. We really enjoyed the puzzles but found we needed help with what to do next. There’s not a padlock in the room and every puzzle felt relevant and in keeping with the theme. A really fun escape room but probably best suited to smaller teams. We are currently booking another room with this company in hope that Ant will host us again and we’d really love Keith to make an appearance too.
The Great Loudini - Closing Oct 31Escapable - Thornes Lane WharfEscape roomIRLWe had been wanting to play this for some time but like everyone else found it hard to get the dates to match up. Mike kindly helped us arrange a suitable date and we are forever grateful that he did. This is an exceptional experience that goes far beyond a normal escape room. The room is beautifully decorated with authentic props and curios, and it smells divine. It is a challenging room and we would have been satisfied to complete the room and escape. To then add the delight of a gifted magician performing a personalised magic show right in front of your eyes and in your own hands made the experience unforgettable. We are truly grateful to have played this game for our 200th room and would place it at the top of our list. Just outstanding and we can’t wait to see what comes next from Escapable.
Prank HeistEscapable - Thornes Lane WharfEscape roomIRLThis a super fun room which houses a game of two halves. The main objective is to escape the room with a found object. After locating the object you are free to explore the classroom and solve brilliantly fun puzzles in order to collect stink bombs. The room is challenging enough and the time flies by. I think kids would particularly enjoy this one. Hosting from Mike is always perfect. He is engaging and always on hand to give a wee poke when needed.
TitanicMajestic Escape Game ParisEscape roomIRLA more traditional, linear escape room. We really loved this one. We didn’t click with every puzzle and needed some pointers (we tried to get more of these clues once we realised the fabulous way they were being delivered). We still loved it though. The set design and immersion were brilliant and we really felt like we were sinking the Titanic. Our GM was super friendly and happily chatted about the game afterwards. We talked about how bad we are at searching and she pointed out all the little nuggets we’d missed. No wonder we found some puzzles tricky. Still brilliant though.
Mission Galactique [Galactic Mission]Majestic Escape Game ParisEscape roomIRLJust wow. This absolutely blew us away. The design, the hosting, the game play, the whole experience. We weren’t expecting this but it was so much fun and we were just busy from the start to the exciting finale. I normally avoid character interactions but this one was short and fun so don’t let that put you off. A brilliant experience!
Space AlertEscape ProdEscape roomIRLAnother fabulous room at this location. The theme is beautifully realised and evident in every puzzle. The puzzles were varied in difficulty and style, and we found this worked to our advantage. This room requires a good memory and some solid team communication, and there’s also a physical element for all team members. It was an absolute blast and we found ourselves taking it quite seriously during the final countdown. We’d highly recommend this fun game and we’d happily return to play their other games.
Brick WorldEscape ProdEscape roomIRLThis room was so much fun. The bricks theme was present throughout every puzzle and kept us totally engaged for a full hour. A couple of easier puzzles and some trickier ones but every one different and enjoyable. You might struggle here if you’re colour blind and it was a little more active than normal but I’m totally unfit and I managed. We thoroughly enjoyed this room and would highly recommend it.
The Comic Book Investigation [Outdoor]Mystery Bag BrusselsEscape roomIRLA really wonderful way to explore a new city. We found ourselves up little alley ways, inside public buildings and standing in grand squares. It was brilliant for this. The puzzles themselves were a little on the easy side but the bag and its contents were of very high quality. Everything about the experience related back to the theme, including the buildings we visited, which tied everything together beautifully. It was a long experience at 2 hours. It involved a lot of walking on a very hot day with no time built in for a rest, a drink or a toilet break. I would recommend that you plan for these yourself if you book a city hunt. A really great way to see the city from a different viewpoint but overall not enough puzzling for me.
NautilusEnygmaEscape roomIRLSqueezed this is on a whim and so glad we did. The GM was so friendly and engaging. The room had a quirky start then kicked off. It is a beautifully designed space with lots of things that we were desperate to touch. It took a while to find our rhythm and work out the puzzles were a little easier than we were making them but once we got going it was absolutely brilliant. There were some new puzzles and some things we weren’t expecting. It is a lot for 2 people but they are kind enough to give pairs a little extra time. We hadn’t allowed for the extra time so had to run off to our next game which was such a shame as we didn’t have time to talk through the game with the lovely host. It was so atmospheric and just fun, and we’d highly recommend it.

The DomeMama BazookaEscape roomIRLAn unassuming building in an industrial estate hides an incredible experience. The waiting area is the finest I’ve seen with a host of games to play and a great wee bar to keep you fed and watered. I didn’t know to expect and hadn’t read ahead. I’m unsure if this was wise. Maybe I wouldn’t have done this room if I’d read about it. I’m not going to give any spoilers so I’ll just say it’s the craziest thing I’ve ever done. I’m still not really sure what I did or why. I’ve watched the video of our progress back and I still don’t know what I did or why. I have no idea how things happened but I do know I laughed a lot, had an amazing time and would highly recommend this experience to others. To be clear this is an experience and not an escape room. Bring as many people as you can find and have an unforgettable experience of your own.
Wake Up!QuestomaticaEscape roomIRLI really enjoyed this room. The theme was just the right side of creepy and I felt we were busy the whole time. The game flowed well and I found the use of light and sound as a guide to be brilliant. A couple of new puzzles and a new lock (which always pleases me) and some unique props which totally engaged us.
The ArchitectSherlockedEscape roomIRLA genuinely interesting theme that fits perfectly with the beautiful and atmospheric building. The huge space was sparsely decorated but that only helped with the flow as we weren’t being distracted by superfluous toot. I don’t think the puzzles were particularly challenging but they were fun and well suited to the theme. We loved the whole feel of the room and place, which is maybe why we’re forgiving of the amount of time we spent (wasted) playing on old tech and completing unnecessary puzzles. It just didn’t matter and every minute was fun.
Carnival CrisisClue CollectorsEscape roomIRLSuch a fun experience. The host and owner was a joy who happily talked about her rooms and her passion for creating experiences. The room is beautifully decorated and was just fun to be in. The puzzles were a real mix of easier and quite challenging plus there were some excellent physical and skill challenges that even us old dolls could manage. We came here specially for this room but will happily come back to do the others.
Outatime - Through the DecadesEscapable - Thornes Lane WharfEscape roomIRLAn outstanding experience from start to finish. Wonderful decoration and theming throughout the room. There was a great mix of puzzles in terms of difficulty level and type, and we each got turns to feel a little slow or a bit smug. Our GM was as wonderful as last time we visited and was so kind and accommodating in helping us arrange a future visit with their special guest. We’d highly recommend this room and can’t wait to return.
