Der Spielzeugmacher [Toy Maker]Big Break HamburgEscape roomIRLOur 9th stop on our Escape Tour, Germany 2024 and what an unforgettable experience! From start to finish, you feel like a child again, completely swept up in the magic of the adventure. The level of imagination in the design is outstanding, with incredible attention to detail that keeps pulling you deeper into the experience. There are some truly impressive wow moments—ones that will stay with you for a long time, if not forever. The immersion only builds as you progress, making every moment more captivating than the last. It’s no surprise this room is among the top TERPECA winners, and it has easily secured a spot in my personal top five. A must-play for all escape room enthusiasts!
Molly's GameUntold Stories Experiences [prev. Down the Hatch]Escape roomIRLSuperb room with very unique puzzles, great story & powerful atmosphere. The host/owner is super friendly and welcoming. Have done it twice already, that is how good it is.
De Wraak Van Han [Han’s Revenge]De Gouden KooiEscape roomIRLHans’ Revenge at De Gouden Kooi offered a great mix of pyrotechnics and varied environments, making for a unique and engaging experience. The beginning was especially impressive, after seeing an intro video. It was quite warm inside (likely due to the summer heat), but that didn’t take away from the fun. With a team of six, we escaped with 15 minutes to spare, though the room still provided a solid challenge. Recommended for experienced players looking for something a bit different.
The DomeMama BazookaEscape roomIRLThe Dome from Mama Bazooka is best played with six players to tackle its complex and innovative puzzles. We had an incredible experience, as the room pushes creativity and immersion to the next level. The atmosphere was outstanding, with unique and surprising elements throughout. A great touch was the after-show, where we got to see a brief replay of our experience—something that always adds to the fun and would be great to see more often in the industry. One negative point is that there is no photo moment. Not a surprise that it has been a couple of years in a row as number one in the world from Terpeca. Highly recommended for experienced players looking for something truly special! Note (28/09/2025): The photo is from the second time my partner and I did this experience. It was just as good as the first time we played it and the last puzzle has changed since 4 months the ago, which made it even better.
Metropolis 2099Dream LabsEscape roomIRLMetropolis 2099 by Dream Labs was the second room of the day and the eighth of our Bavarian Escape Tour, with the same group of 4. As mentioned in my previous review of The Tale of the Heartless Pirate, Dream Labs delivers perfection from start to finish, and this room was no exception. The immersion is on another level, with props, lighting, sound, and set design so well done you truly feel transported into a futuristic dystopian world straight out of Blade Runner. The puzzle design fits flawlessly with the environment, offering a smooth and cohesive flow. While the puzzles are on the easier side, this aligns with Dream Labs’ signature style of prioritizing immersive storytelling over difficulty. This experience runs 90 minutes, but we finished with 12 minutes to spare, likely due to the heightened sense of urgency that’s beautifully built into the narrative pacing. On a personal level, I found this even more enjoyable than The Heartless Pirate, mainly because I have a soft spot for dystopian and futuristic themes. Absolutely recommended for all players, regardless of experience. A masterclass in immersion.
The Lost Treasure Of Alexander Von HumboldtThe RoomEscape roomIRLOur 3rd stop on our Escape Tour Germany 2024, and yet another fantastic Indiana Jones-themed adventure! The attention to detail and clever nods to the films were outstanding, making it an absolute delight for any fan of the franchise. The puzzles were engaging, well-designed, and flowed naturally within the story, enhancing the immersion. Every element felt carefully crafted to bring the adventure to life. Highly recommended for all players, but an absolute must for Indiana Jones enthusiasts. (I might be a little biased as a huge Indy fan, but this room truly delivered!)
Stay In The DarkDark Park VlaardingenEscape roomIRLOur sixth stop on our Escape Tour Netherlands 2024: Stay in The Dark from Dark Park. A long, intense, and truly unforgettable experience. The sheer size of the space added to the immersion, with plenty of moments where running heightened the tension. One of the scariest and most thrilling rooms out there. It’s a shame it’s closing in May 2024—I cannot recommend it enough. Easily in my top 10 experiences!
PrayEscape Room KatwijkEscape roomIRLOur third stop on our Escape Tour Netherlands 2024: Pray from Escape Room Katwijk. The storytelling, delivered through an actor, was top-notch, drawing us deeper into the experience. The environment was superb—spacious, immersive, and packed with incredible attention to detail. The puzzles were engaging and well-designed, making for a thrilling and memorable adventure. An absolute must-play. Highly recommended!
The AlchemistSherlockedEscape roomIRLThe Alchemist from Sherlocked showcases great attention to detail and top-notch quality, as expected from this company. The set design and overall experience were impressive, immersing us in the theme right from the start. Unfortunately, we encountered several mechanical issues during our playthrough—one involving the stairs and another puzzle that couldn’t be completed. While these didn’t ruin the experience entirely, they were disappointing. What stood out even more was the host’s lackluster response to these problems, offering only a casual “too bad” without further acknowledgment or compensation. A gesture, like a discount for a future visit, would have gone a long way in addressing the situation. Despite this, the room’s design and atmosphere make it worth playing, though a more proactive approach to customer care would improve the overall experience.
Monster MashersTales of Torchdale - Monster MashersEscape roomIRLMonster Mashers (Dark Mode) by Tales of Torchdale was the 3rd room of the day and the 9th game of our NL/BE Escape Tour 2026. Seeing that it’s already sitting at #3 in TERPECA 2025 (at the time of writing) tells you a lot, but experiencing it explains why. This is unusually fun in a way that’s hard to describe without smiling while thinking about it. We were a team of 4 and from start to finish, the room keeps surprising you. There are constant wow moments, clever reveals, and theatrical beats that make it feel closer to a live production than a traditional escape room. The acting is superb. The atmosphere fully commits to the story, and the lighting and sound design elevate everything into something cinematic. The “scary” element is very manageable. My wife, who normally gets scared quite easily, was completely fine throughout. The tone balances tension and playfulness brilliantly. The puzzles lean toward the easier side, which is to be expected with the type of experience. The focus here is immersion and spectacle, but the gameplay remains enjoyable and satisfying. This is one of those rooms that reminds you why you love escape rooms in the first place. I cannot recommend it enough.
