A Very Merry Mystery

A Very Merry Mystery

Prodigy Puzzles Escape Rooms [prev. Mystery Soup Escape Rooms, Lock & Clue]

Escape room
IRL

A cute room with Christmas whimsy! This was our first room under new ownership with Prodigy Puzzles and we got to meet the owner Riley, who was fun to chat with! This game was turned over from the previous owners, Mystery Soup to be Christmas themed from the previous previous owners, Lock and Clue’s The Inheritance game. This room had some memorable puzzles and had a really nice flow to it with a cute surprise at the end.

Yay we made the leader board for this room and Nonna’s house! We chatted with the owner and his nephew after the game and they were so fun and welcoming to chat with. The room itself had a good variety of puzzles, some harder than others. We had a great time in this room!

A very cute game at Nonna’s house. Leans into the Italian family theme. The type of room where the puzzles were fairly easy, but there were so many that it made game play fun, interesting, and consistently moving.

This was the first game in the area that we played that had a live actor. The actors were awesome and added a lot to the experience. The puzzles were fewer, but took longer to complete. There were four of us and we split up and worked on various parts of the room, which brought us together for the second part of the room. RI Riddle Room is one of my favorite locations and you can tell how passionate and enthusiast each staff member is.

The moment you step into the lobby, you’re transported into another world. This room was a ton of fun, with clever puzzles, creative elements, and plenty to keep the group engaged and working. We also had the chance to chat with the owner and designer, Mike, whose passion for escape rooms clearly shines through in the experience he created.

This just might be my favorite game at this location. The puzzles were really fun and interactive. (Not a spoiler) but at the end, you get to decide if you want to keep playing or if you want to stop and take the win. We decided to keep playing and the challenge level definitely increased. We didn’t finish that part, but overall the game was really interesting and had some puzzles we really enjoyed.

This is a next level game. The set design, the variety of puzzles, the story, the rooms.. everything was truly a cut above the rest. This company certainly knows how to design a room. There are some very physical components to this game, so keep that in mind!

This is one of those games you’ll remember for a while. Very whimsical, very story-line heavy, a lot of breaks during the game to follow along with the story, had a live actor, and unique elements. This was a challenging room - we are an experienced team, and some of these puzzles were very layered! Luckily, your adorable little hint giver is with you the whole time.

If you can, definitely play Weekend at the Shack 1 at the other location first. We did 1 the morning of, and then this game, aka Weekend at the Shack 2 in the afternoon. It was a great addition and then closure to the story line. This room kept us moving and kept us guessing what was going to happen next.

I feel like this is a polarizing room, where a person either loves it or does not. I’d say this room is much more of a problem-solving experience than a puzzle-solving experience.. no locks, no code combinations, no major puzzles. The experience relies heavily on interacting with the actors, so it really helps if at least a few people in your group are outgoing and willing to fully lean into the roleplay. The setting is in a prison cell with guards and other prisoners, so by nature, they may pick on you/poke fun at you. If this is not your thing, you might not like this game. I personally loved the entire experience.

I thought this game was so charming. The set was immersive, the actor was great, and we laughed a lot in this room. I love a room that has enough puzzles for everyone to split up, work on some things, trade off puzzles, and come back to put it all together. This was exactly that for me.

This was our final game at this location and was a fun one to end on. Our pacing on this game is what stood out the most for me. There were moments where we were flying through puzzles and building momentum, and other moments where we had to slow down, regroup, and really think things through. It kept the experience engaging the entire time without ever feeling too easy or impossibly stuck.

The second room of the saga and wow, what an incredible story line this is turning out to be. This room is on the spookier side, and was done very well! From start to finish, we were so engaged in this room.

I’m still in awe of how incredible this experience was. Thomas (as Lou) made this game even more incredible for us. The design was so well thought out, the puzzles were incredible, and I was so immersed in this story. It definitely got my heart racing because I was SO in it! Thank you, Escape Artist Greenville Downtown and Hampton Station for hosting us for 7 of your games in 2 short days. We had a blast!

Wowwee this was more than an escape room. We did the entire 3 room saga at this location and it was an entire experience. It never felt stagnant, each of the rooms were very different so we stayed engaged, and the set design was stunning. This room in particular was just so beautiful.

The third and final room of the saga, and my personal favorite. A very, very special thank you to our live actors, (and some of the best improv work I’ve ever seen) Connor, Nate, and Quill. You made this already incredible experience even that much more special for us!
