Secret of The TombEscape Room CentreEscape roomIRLHaving booked this room last minute we hadn’t had much time to look into the company/read reviews so kept an open mind going in and wow, are we glad we booked. The puzzles ranged in difficulty and as well as the traditional lock and keys, we saw some styles that we had not yet encountered in our 50+ previous escape rooms. The room (Secret of the Tomb) was immersive and flowed well, with plenty to do to keep us busy for the hour! We escaped with less than a minute to spare and felt that the clues given didn’t intrude or take away from our experience as they were only given when asked for or necessary.
Laboratory - CLOSEDCompendium Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLFantastic room with lots of interesting and different types of puzzle to solve. A range of padlocks and overall just an amazing room! Super theming, carried throughout the rooms with the puzzles flowing well. GM was brilliant and we managed to escape this one with no clues. Loved every minute and am so glad we got here prior to it closing!!
The VaultSherlockedEscape roomIRLSuch a different escape room experience!! I can’t say much as don’t want to give anything away but WOW. The gameplay was phenomenal and the GM was absolutely brilliant. We had a fantastic time and the game was adapted to cater for our team of 2. Physical, logical, padlock and some surprise elements. Would highly recommend this one!
Wrong TurnCompendium Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLAbsolutely loved this one. Flowed beautifully with many linear aspects which meant you weren’t left stumped for long or with no ideas. Loved the set design and there was a wide range of puzzles/locks to appeal to most escape enthusiasts! Can’t wait to go back and complete some more at Compendium!
Lily Of LumleyEscape Rooms Durham - Lumley Castle VenueEscape roomIRLThis is a solid room, the lighting can be a bit of a challenge at times and I’d definitely ask the host if you want limited clues. We had barely even got started and had chance to look around before being sent several!! But otherwise a fantastic setting with some good puzzles and ah-ha moments.
UI-55 - CLOSEDCompendium Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLAn amazing room from start to finish with SO much to do! We played this as a 2 and were kept busy for the full time with a whole range of puzzles and activities to complete. Would definitely recommend a visit!
The Great Loudini - Closing Oct 31Escapable - Thornes Lane WharfEscape roomIRLWow, just wow! This is an absolute game changer in the world of escape rooms. From the moment you walk in to the moment that you finish, you are completely immersed in a (literally) magical experience. I don’t want to give anything away but all I will say is if you’re looking for a labour of love, with incredible attention to detail where the passion of the owners show through, this is the room for you. Cannot rate it highly enough - logical, illogical, thought provoking…this room has it all. A must do!!
Legacy - CLOSEDEscapism ChesterEscape roomIRLSome good theming, made use of some very basic rooms to create a solid but not “wow” escape room. There was plenty to do but considering it’s their hardest room it wasn’t overly challenging and we completed it with 2 of us. Definitely worth a trip if you’re in the area for sure.
Mr Copplestone's Curiosity ShoppeEscape Quest United KingdomEscape roomIRLAnother exceptional game by Escape Quest. With an initial “problem” to solve you can at that point choose to leave the game or continue for the full hour. I don’t know why you’d leave at that point though when there is so very much on offer. Puzzles which appeal to all are on offer throughout and will keep you entertained for the full hour.
Percy Pendleton's Peculiar PredicamentEscape Quest United KingdomEscape roomIRLI cannot rate the rooms at Escape Quest highly enough and if you haven’t already been, all I can say is book now - you won’t be disappointed! With plenty to do for everyone, you really do keep going until the time is up. ChristmasExtremescapeEscape roomIRLMy partner was initially very sceptical about completing a Christmas themed room in the middle of spring but along we went and even the Grinch himself was converted with this one! Fantastic theming and another superbly built set meant that this room was a joy to explore. With plenty to do, this one kept us busy throughout and had an extraordinary finale! Highly recommend!
The HaligonianThe Escaporium Halifax - The Piece HallEscape roomIRLGenuinely love all of the rooms at The Escaporium so had high expectations of this one and it didn’t fail to deliver. Quirky theming with some really great ideas. Being a team of 2, it felt like we were in a real race against the clock at some points as the clues and puzzles keep on coming but we did manage to escape with a few minutes to spare. Highly recommended.
A Christmas Advent-ure - CLOSEDThe Escaporium Halifax - The MillEscape roomIRLI don’t know how they’ve managed to fit so much into what I’d consider to be a relatively small area but it’s definitely a Christmas gift that keeps on giving! Lots of clever puzzles with plenty to do and gorgeous theming throughout.

Test Chamber - CLOSEDExit Door Escape RoomEscape roomIRLWow - what a room!! This contains SO many different styles of clue and is just brilliant! I can’t recommend this enough and the owners are super lovely which just adds to the positive overall experience. Very quirky but definitely one to add to the “to do” list!
The LodgeLockdown Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis was the room where it all began - my first foray into the escape room world! I can’t think of a better room to start in; fantastic use of space and a whole range of different clue types which would appeal to everyone. I’d probably say smaller groups work better in terms of the space in here but would still recommend this as a starting point or for those who are looking for some solid escape room fun!
Dragon’s HeartLucardo RawtenstallEscape roomIRLWhat a superb use of space!! The set of this escape room is second to none and is so well thought out and put together. Loved this room for its quirky puzzles and range of things to do.
The MissingEscapism ChesterEscape roomIRLThis almost felt like a reverse-escape room as you start on the outside and work your way in. Some really clever puzzles involving all of the senses - definitely would recommend!
