Back to the DinerGolden Puzzle RoomEscape roomIRLFun & memorable theme set in a 50s diner. The puzzles in this room are a mix of traditional puzzles as well as some high tech & unique puzzles we’ve never seen before! We have quite a few rooms under our belt and still felt challenged in this room!
Special Ops: Mysterious MarketThe Escape Game - Penn QuarterEscape roomIRLOne of my favorites by this group! I love 2nd gen puzzles and this had plenty. It was linear and we felt like it was suitable for 2 players but you wouldn't want more than 4. Overall great gameplay & story!
Gold RushThe Escape Game - San AntonioEscape roomIRLThis is such a cool room! The atmosphere is outstanding and the puzzles are really engaging. Not to mention, one puzzle in particular really stands out. Definitely one of our all time favorite rooms.
Mayan Jungle Rescue - CLOSEDQuest Escapes - Cibolo [prev. Kwest Club Escape Adventures]Escape roomIRLThe intro to this room is something that I’ve never seen before! Plus the use of an interactive GM & the way they incorporate actors truly made this experience awesome. You have to check them out!!
The Voyage of the Crimson Ruby - CLOSEDQuest Escapes - Cibolo [prev. Kwest Club Escape Adventures]Escape roomIRLI cannot get over how much I love this place!! The owner has a background in film and it shows. The use of an interactive GM was so cool. You have to check them out! This room is good for experienced players who want a little more of a challenge compared to the other room.
PlaygroundThe Escape Game - AustinEscape roomIRLEasily one of my favorite escape rooms! The puzzles were high tech, varied, and really fun (also a bit challenging). The setting & story were incredibly immersive, nostalgic, and a bit humorous. My husband and I made it out, but this room is better suited for a bigger group. Overall, you must try this room if you’re in the area!!
Wizard's CastleGnome & RavenEscape roomIRLOne of the best rooms we’ve played! Every detail from the GM to the set was in theme. Gnome & Raven outdid themselves with this whimsical, fun, and challenging room. No complaints at all.
Museum Heist - CLOSEDBreakout Games - RichmondEscape roomIRLThis room was middle of the road for us. The atmosphere and uniqueness of some puzzles really made this room enjoyable. However, a lot of the puzzles felt very disjointed. There were TONS of locks and not many hints as to which code went to which puzzle. A couple more nudges would improve the room. Overall, it’s a decent room!
Cyber Punk’dColonial Escape RoomEscape roomIRLThis is one of our favorite rooms! This nonlinear room had an outstanding set, fun yet challenge puzzles, and really immersed us. This room is very small so I would not recommend more than two people.
Gold RushOperation EscapeEscape roomIRLThis was an incredibly immersive, linear room. Howeverm what made this room stand out were the VERY unique puzzles that we've never seen before! The first room felt “expert” level, but it got a tad bit easier as it went along. I highly recommend stopping by up if you're up for a challenge!
Once Upon A TimeOperation EscapeEscape roomIRLThe storyline and atmosphere really made the room for us, it felt magical! However, we weren't the biggest fan of the puzzles as they were either too easy or felt like they didn't have any clues leading towards the answer. I see where this could be a great room if you have younger kids.
Captain Maniacal's LairboratoriumRed Door Escape Room - RichmondEscape roomIRLQuick, cheap way to escape! It’s definitely geared more for kids, but my husband and I still enjoyed it.
Operation: CasinoBreakout Games - RichmondEscape roomIRLThis is definitely one of the hardest escape rooms we’ve done! I’m not sure why there are bad reviews, because the quality was on par with many good, local escape rooms. It definitely isn’t as high tech as places like Red Door or Escape RVA, but there were still many high tech elements included. The story was fun and engaging, plus the puzzles were unique and kept us on our toes. We really enjoyed this room!
Bank HeistRiddle Me This Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis room was CHALLENGING! It’s a traditional, linear room that is very mechanical and heavy on the locks/codes, plus some math. This is definitely a room you want to play well-rested and on your A game! A couple of the puzzles were quite unique and made me think outside of the box. Also, if you’re a fan of The Office, you’ll appreciate the story! The best part was our GM Ace, they really livened up the gameplay and had perfect timing with nudges (not too much nor too little). I’d recommend a smaller group of adults due to the puzzle types and difficulty. All in all, this is perfect for experienced players who want to put their logic, pattern recognition, and critical thinking abilities to the test! We enjoyed ourselves. All in all, this room
InnocentRiver City Escape RoomEscape roomIRLThis is the best traditional, prison break themed escape room we’ve found! I usually prefer more high tech rooms, so it says a lot that we love this room! It’s very challenging, but not because the room is illogical. It’s well written, linear, and hard! One of us started in a jail cell which really stood out as unique. Plus, the story and puzzles were fun. Check this room out if you think you’re ready for the challenge!
The Chocolate FactoryRiver City Escape RoomEscape roomIRLSuper cute, whimsical game! It’s linear and definitely on the easy side (difficulty is geared more for kids and first timers) BUT we still had a great time immersing ourselves. It allowed us to focus on being present in the set instead of trying to beat the clock. The game is such a fun take on the movie and has so many neat features. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!
ManhattanRiver City Escape RoomEscape roomIRLOverall this was a fun linear room! It wasn’t as intuitive in some parts and was definitely one of the more challenging rooms I’ve done. Still worth playing though!
Magic LampGnome & RavenEscape roomIRLThe scenery, props, and high tech mechanics were phenomenal! Our GM stayed in character from the moment we met them up until our escape, too. They are also able to customize the room to accommodate different sized groups, different ages, and different skill levels. Our GM even upped the difficulty in the middle of the game when they realized that my husband and I had mistakenly chosen too low of a level. This room in particular was whimsical and had a charming, immersive storyline. I recommend it for kids and adults alike!
Algernon’s Shop of Magical GoodsEscape Room RVAEscape roomIRLAlgernons was the perfect mix of all aspects. It had equal amounts of high tech and mechanical puzzles, great mix of spooky and funny (especially for a chicken like me), and was really cool! There was one part/prop that made it kinda scary, and I would not recommend this room for kids. This whole place is so thrilling and immersive! There was even a staff member that came out from a hidden door when we were checking in. Go check them out! Note: this is considered their spooky/scary place, Gnome & Raven is their tame facility.
Alice In WonderlandRiver City Escape RoomEscape roomIRLThis room is so magical! It’s a linear and relatively good mix of easy and challenging, plus it’s very engaging. I would have rated it manual, but there’s one thing that made me rate it high tech! I won’t spoil it though.
