Dr. FrankensteinMonster Quest Escape RoomEscape roomIRLSuper fun, interactive room. Immersive from the moment you walk into the business. One the latter puzzles was a little finicky but otherwise great. Zero code locks. Lights and sounds add to atmosphere. Fairly easy room overall. Definitely recommend.
Curse of the MummyMonster Quest Escape RoomEscape roomIRLSuper fun, interactive room. Zero code locks. Lights and sounds add to atmosphere. Fairly easy room overall. Definitely recommend. Lots to see and do, but accomplished with 2 people is about 45 min.
Mystery of the Mystical MaskCipher Solver Escape GamesEscape roomIRLFun room. Good mix of manual and tech. Very non-linear, but clues abound to help you along.
The Candy CaperCipher Solver Escape GamesEscape roomIRLFun room. Again, very non-linear which impacted gameplay towards the end. Room has lots of lights and sounds - could be hard for some with sensitivities. Arcade games and puzzles. A good mix of tech and manual/code/key locks.
Tomb of the Winter Wolf [prev. Game of Stones 2]Portland Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis was super fun, even without being very familiar with Game of Thrones. (My partner loved the show). Immersive and challenging. Good flow and very cool puzzles. One that's pretty innovative, too. Highly recommend.
ArcadePortland Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLSuper fun nonlinear room. Immersive and great gameplay. Flows well. Excellent mix of locks and tech. And arcade games! Definitely recommend
Doctor Jones Study HeistEscape Tech - Downtown SalemEscape roomIRLDr Jones Study was an improvement of the other room we did. Still VERY lock heavy - as in two manual locks on each drawer. Some fun puzzles and black light play. Also, chairs to sit in. Big plus there. Overall, not novel but a fun room.
Save The AsylumEscape Tech - Downtown SalemEscape roomIRLFirst, several elements in this room were broken. From the dry erase marker that barely wrote to the lock with the tumblers that did not turn to even enter a code (and didn't open when we got the code in) to the tape player with dead batteries that couldn't play the secret message. It was rough going. This is VERY lock heavy, and I'm not a huge fan of this style - particularly when you get a solve that give you a key that opens to another key that opens to yet a 3rd key. As far as gameplay, it was "linear" didn't flow well even accounting for the constant malfunctions. I would not recommend this one.
Operation GryaznayavodaIn Search Of An ExitEscape roomIRLThis room was fully awesome. Great storyline and gameplay. Our GM, Patrick, was superb as well. 4 people is really helpful and we all had stuff to work on. And I have it on good authority from a Russian speaker that this room translates to "Operation Dirty Water". Definitely, Definitely do this room!
The Fright Before Christmas - CLOSEDParadigmqEscape roomIRLSuper fun room. Great for families. Lots of locks but clever puzzles to solve and plenty for everyone to do. 1 jump scare but otherwise just spooky vibes. Good gameplay and flow. Would recommend for families/tweens.
Lombino's CasinoIn Search Of An ExitEscape roomIRLImpressively good. Everything from the moment you enter the building is novel and fun. Gameplay was excellent. Atmosphere was top notch and like stepping back into my childhood LOL. Highly recommended!
Murder On The ExpressParadigmqEscape roomIRLReally fun room. Puzzles were fun and combo of mechanical and keypad style. Great atmosphere. Murder mystery; does not follow the Agatha Christie story. Still, fun story, good gameplay. Decent challenge. Best room they have (of the 4 we've done).
Out Of The PastParadigmqEscape roomIRLBeginner room. Lots of mechanical locks, some tech elements. I'm not sure if this is normal, but there was zero story provided. We were just in the past with 60 minutes to explore. Very odd and made it weird at the end.
Into The FutureParadigmqEscape roomIRLAgain, we didn't have any story. We just were going to the future and get something to get back. More tech in this room but still lots of mechanical locks. One of the locks wouldn't open, and we had to stop the game with 2 GMs tried to fix it...and failed. One of puzzles required us to basically lay on the floor, and there is no reason to do that. Very awkward for game play. Some puzzles were great, others were just confusing. Overall, I would skip this room and the Past one. At best, they are so-so. And when stuff is busted, it's just a huge time suck.
AmnesiaParadigmqEscape roomIRLNon-linear room which can be a little overwhelming, but good setup to help focus quickly. Fun puzzles and sensory games. Challenging but doable. One of their better rooms.
Fortune Teller [prev. Madame Neptune's Voodoo Curse]Portland Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLSuper fun room. Great flow with game play. Zero hints needed, but live actor helped with additional story elements and was available if we got stuck. Definitely recommended.
Steampunk AirshipPortland Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLI'm torn on this room. It looked cool and efforts were made, but the GM was not super engaged. She tried, but also seemed bored. The gameplay did not flow well, and some of the tech effects did not work well. The GM was necessary to help us navigate that and to transition spaces as it wasn't clear any other way. So, the play was ok and some parts were fun.
Atomic CafeNW Escape ExperienceEscape roomIRLFun room. Great setup and GMs were great. Rooms are lock heavy with several combo locks to open. Also includes fun tech features for solves. Good starter room for newbies or would be fun with kids.
Chapter 3: The MorgueOff The Couch GamesEscape roomIRLPart 3 or 12, and the last available at this time. The spookiest and most challenging to date. Consistent characters mean that I am invested in the storyline. Bonus challenges were fun and 1 was particularly difficult. Loved the gameshow style of this room. Very cool to be escaping "for a purpose". Can't wait to see how the choices made will play out when additional rooms are built. Hopefully in 2025!
Chapter 1: Occam's ApartmentOff The Couch GamesEscape roomIRLVery unique approach to escape rooms. 1 of 12 rooms in a continuous story series that flows well from one to the next. No reliance on lock/key/mechanical. Inventive, immersive gameplay with live actor and GM. Note: More than one way to escape this room! Challenging puzzles and unique game. Super fun room.
