AbstractionEliviascapeEscape roomIRLI said I “loved” the experience out of respect for the venue… Because yes, it was an exceptional experience, but since we’re not fans of horror, for us it was the worst escape room of our lives, haha! Let’s start with the positives: - The immersion is on par with the best escape room organizers - The sets are AMAZING - The game masters were awesome - The puzzles are really well thought out What we liked less: We got so stressed out by the oppressive atmosphere that we left through the emergency exit; we really didn’t feel well anymore.... Let’s just say that if you don’t like horror, this room isn’t for you! Although there’s nothing graphic in the room, don’t underestimate the power of fear, haha! Without giving anything away, we jumped once early in the game and that was it for us from that point on—the atmosphere was so heavy that we couldn’t think straight enough to continue. We still managed to get through three-quarters of the scenario, so we got to experience almost the entire thing. I have to admit we’re two total wimps, so don’t let this review stop you—go experience this unique adventure; it’s totally worth it!!!!!
L'Île perdue de la Reine Vaudou [The Lost Island of the Voodoo Queen]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLAn absolutely EXCEPTIONAL experience!!!!! The atmosphere was absolutely amazing, the sets were movie-worthy, and the puzzles were well thought out..... In short, I absolutely loved it!
Disparue [Missing]Enigma-TicEscape roomIRLWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!! I did this room over a year ago, and I still have an irresistible urge to go back! As a huge Stranger Things fan, honestly, the sets are incredibly immersive (we really felt like we were in that world throughout the entire experience), the puzzles are well-designed and tie in with the theme, and the immersion itself is fantastic.... honestly, there’s absolutely nothing to complain about with this room!!!! The difficulty level was also just perfect—not too easy, but not too hard either. It’s a real treat to be able to have experiences like this! A huge, huge, huge favorite!!!
Bébé LalaDéserteur - TerrebonneEscape roomIRLThe atmosphere was so much fun—I absolutely loved it!!!! I recommend not playing this scenario with more than 4 players. We laughed a lot and had a great time throughout the whole experience. The puzzles were different from what we’re used to seeing, and the game master was really into her role!
Job De MardeDéserteur - TerrebonneEscape roomIRLI really loved this room without a padlock! The interactions with the game master were really funny and always on point—it was so much fun!!!! The decor was beautiful, and the immersion was truly there! We managed to escape in 54 minutes with just two players (we called to book because normally you need at least three, but given our experience, they let us play with just two). To the manager and the room designers!!!
Le Cirque RadioactifÉvade-Toi St-JérômeEscape roomIRLPersonally, I’m a huge fan of the circus theme to begin with. I wasn’t disappointed! The theme was 100% there—you could feel it in every corner you looked! It was a nice surprise since we were a bit hesitant to go, given our past experiences at this location. However, friends recommended we give it a try, which is why we decided to take a chance and go back! Pros: - Great immersion - Fun puzzles (though many of them are familiar if you’re a regular player) - A room without padlocks, and the locks/mechanisms to unlock were very well thought out! Cons: - A LOT of unnecessary props in the decor (yes, it sets the mood, but having played many rooms, seeing so much unused potential was rather disappointing) - Quite a few familiar puzzles - Music that was a bit jarring at times (it felt like it would start playing at random moments... Either there’s a soundtrack, or there isn’t haha!) - Without giving anything away, we thought the theme was very poorly utilized..........
Boom RoomRoom Escape OttawaEscape roomIRLThe room was okay... but nothing special for us. The positives: - Lots of items to interact with - The layout was well-designed; the scenario wasn't too big or too small - The puzzles were well-designed Things we would have done differently: - Although the GM was very nice, let’s just say we didn’t feel watched at all during our game. The proof: we finished the scenario and waited a good ten minutes for someone to come find us before leaving; in the end, she caught up with us in the hallway to get our feedback - A ton of padlocks
Asile [Asylum]Mission LibertéEscape roomIRLOverall, the room was okay, but honestly, there wasn't anything truly memorable about it. The decor was horror-themed, but there were no jump scares, which we appreciated. What really turned us off was the fact that some of the puzzles and decor had absolutely nothing to do with the room's theme (e.g., the flowers????), plus the final puzzle was clearly made up of reused props from other scenarios. We didn’t appreciate that no effort was made to make us feel like this puzzle was connected to what we were doing in the game and the room’s theme—it was just another challenge among many. Also, I’m 5’1” tall, and I couldn’t see certain essential parts of one of the puzzles. I wasn’t missing much, but let’s just say that with two 5’1” players, we wouldn’t have been able to finish the game without someone coming to help us. Finally, the fact that you have to knock on the door or wave at the camera to get a game master to come into the room (without a costume, without playing a character, or anything) to help us with the scenario when we need clues clashes really badly with other escape rooms and completely takes us out of the atmosphere; I honestly don’t understand why they don’t use a phone/walkie-talkie system or something similar to communicate with us. So, in short, we enjoyed the experience, but I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to other players.
Crash Cosmique [Cosmic Crash]Evasion EvolutionEscape roomIRLHonestly, this escape room was a letdown. There were four of us, and the difficulty level was really high (even though three of us had a lot of experience). It was almost exclusively puzzle-style challenges, and twice we ran into glitches with the systems—we entered the right combination, but the system wouldn’t work. It got to the point where the game master had to come into the room to enter one of the combinations for us, even though we had the right sequence 😅. In short, I unfortunately wouldn’t recommend this room, even though the staff are really friendly and fully immersed in their roles!
L’archéologue Perdu [The Lost Archaeologist]Évade-Toi St-JérômeEscape roomIRLWe played this room as a pair. The puzzles were well-designed and our game master did a great job, but the lack of space left us feeling extremely unsatisfied by the end of the experience: we quickly found ourselves going in circles, revisiting the same things over and over again. It was pretty disappointing because this room has a great concept and some great ideas! I recommend it for people playing their first escape room and wanting to discover this world, but absolutely not for more experienced players
