I think I like it because it’s not based on a specific movie and more of just a general scary haunted maze. This year they scaled up the monsters noticeably and I thought it was extra horrifying! Would definitely recommend!

ScarecrowHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseThis might have been my favorite maze here this year. I tend to appreciate the more generic, non-movie-based ones more, since they’re just generally trying to be scary. I thought this one was pretty creepy and great!
Five Nights at Freddy'sHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseI did 6 out of the 8 haunted mazes here tonight. Of all of them, this was the only one that disappointed me. Perhaps it helps to have seen the movie, which I haven’t, but I honestly haven’t seen most of the movies associated with any of these mazes. They can still be scary and creepy. This one had no jump scares and all the places that might have normally had a jump scares just had a puppeteer operating one of the giant animatronic animals. But they were very much a let down to me because I could see the arms of the person operating the creature, and sometimes I could even see the person dressed in all black sitting on the chair behind the puppets. This took away from them possibly being scary at all. The sets were decent and like I said, maybe if you were just excited to see the scenes from the movie this would be better. But it was a 3-hour wait almost all night. I got in in just a half hour at the very end of the night and I was very grateful I hadn’t waited longer than that.
The Horrors of the Wyatt SicksHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseThis was the least worthwhile maze we did all night. Luckily, the line was super short and it was basically walk in. I wouldn’t spend time waiting in line for this unless you have done everything else already. But if there’s no wait? Sure, why not walk through.
FalloutHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseI thought this maze was great if you like this show. However, I would agree with the other person who said this is more like walking through different scenes from the show, rather than a scary, haunted maze. But that is also what makes Universal mazes a little unique compared to other haunted houses too. So it depends whether you’d appreciate that sort of thing.
Death Water Bayou [Season 2024] - CLOSEDHowl-O-ScreamHauntHaunted houseHad a couple cool elements to it. Something to build from, but I hope they take it even further in the future to become more on the level of Knott’s Scary Farm or Universal’s Hollywood Horror Nights.
Circus of the DamnedHowl-O-ScreamHauntHaunted houseLoved how effective the special glasses were in this maze! They really made you feel like you were tripping out. If there had been jump scares added in here, it would have taken it to the next level. So much potential, so I just hope they expand this more next year and do even more with it. It was pretty bare bones as it was this year.
Simon's SlaughterhouseHowl-O-ScreamHauntHaunted houseThe “Simon Says” idea for a horror theme is pretty creepy, so I liked that. Had some of the more effective jump scares with actors in this maze too.
Nightmare Experiment [Season 2024] - CLOSEDHowl-O-ScreamHauntHaunted houseThis was my favorite of all the mazes we did because it got jump scared a few times. I hope they continue building on this going forward to bring it up to the level of Knott’s Scary Farm or Universal’s Hollywood Horror Nights.
Area 64: Alien OutbreakHowl-O-ScreamHauntHaunted houseA good idea for a theme, but just needs to be executed even better. No jump scares, barely any actors inside this maze.
Cinema SlasherKnott’s Scary FarmHauntHaunted houseI don’t know if I just got lucky with a really good actor when I walked through, but I got more jump scares on this maze than any of the others. The creepy guys with film reels for a head were particularly freaky and really got in my face and followed me around—it was great!
Mesmer: Sideshow Of The MindKnott’s Scary FarmHauntHaunted houseI loved this theme of hypnotization. Of all the mazes at Knott’s, this one is the best at telling you a complete story throughout the entire maze. The voice talks to you through the entire maze, which makes perfect sense for the hypnotization theme. There are also some really cool, freaky moments during this maze where they play with your mind. I only wish there were even more mind tricks sprinkled all throughout!
The Chilling ChambersKnott’s Scary FarmHauntHaunted houseI like the idea of having something of a museum or an homage to their past mazes. While it doesn’t make for a continuous storyline, they do get to cherry pick the coolest moments from a previous mazes to show off. That being said, as a person who hasn’t been going to this event for years, they don’t really mean much to me and it just seems like a hodgepodge of a maze. So I guess it if I could pick, I’d rather have a new maze with a complete theme than this. But I would take this over not having a 10th maze at all.
WidowsKnott’s Scary FarmHauntHaunted houseI thought this was a great idea for a haunted maze, preying on many people’s fear of spiders. The combination with a nursing home infestation made it an even more unique idea, although I wish I’d understood that element of the story a little more. As a person who is scared of spiders in real life, I think they could go even further with this to take advantage of that natural fear. I hope that they go even further next year.
Wax Works - CLOSEDKnott’s Scary FarmHauntHaunted houseTurning people into wax figurines is a pretty unique and creepy idea for a maze. I enjoyed it!
The Grimoire - CLOSEDKnott’s Scary FarmHauntHaunted houseI like the uniqueness of this maze. The idea of camping and reading a spooky haunted book and having things go awry. That being said, we were super confused about how this transitions from camping to World War I trench warfare. There’s clearly a story there, but I wish Knott’s would give you some explanation. In the line while you’re waiting to get in would be the perfect place for you to learn about the story you are about to see, since it’s a bit too loud and hectic inside to explain it I think.
Bloodline 1842 - CLOSEDKnott’s Scary FarmHauntHaunted houseAlthough not an original theme, this is perfectly appropriate for the season. I actually really enjoyed this one this year. Had some good moments.
Room 13Knott’s Scary FarmHauntHaunted houseI think the creepy 20’s hotel theme for this is unique, but they need to take it even further. It’s lacking something that makes it that much more creepy, but the potential is there.
The Weeknd: Nightmare Trilogy - CLOSEDHalloween Horror NightsHauntHaunted houseThis was one of our favorite haunted houses at Universal this year. Very different and unique theme, we enjoyed the nightclub vibe. Nice to have some variety from the usual serial killer movie vibe.
