Grapevine Escape
Escape room
IRL
The owners and game masters at Grapevine Escape are enthusiastic and passionate about providing a great escape room experience. The story for this room was great and while there were some puzzles consisting of locks, not everything revolves around this. Be very mindful of how you complete the puzzles. Would definitely recommend this room if you’re in the area.

Great local escape room business. The theming and story for the Wine Vault was well done. It had some unique puzzles that did not involve padlocks. Game master was helpful and they gave us extra time to complete the room in a funny way- they would mention the cops got stuck in traffic, went out for donuts, etc. Overall a great experience and would recommend this game.
Rudolph’s Gift

This was an original, fun Christmas room. It is the smallest room of Grapevine Escape’s rooms. I feel they were focusing on making a family friendly room and they accomplished this feat. This is definitely a room where you could have younger (age 10-ish) kids enjoy and dip their toes into doing escape rooms. Even an adult group would enjoy this room.

The room had a great background story and the comic book theme and setting were very well done. The music in the room also added to the atmosphere. The puzzles were varied and most were unique uses of objects. The room was not lock dependent which is always a plus. The game master was enthusiastic, informative, and helpful with clues. While this room uses the same setting as the Villains version, the puzzles and areas used in both games were different. The objectives and story are different as well.
Empire City: Villain

This game uses the same room as the Supeheroes version, but the story, objectives, and puzzles are different. A person would need to disregard what they did for the superheroes version when playing this game. The comic book setting and atmosphere was great. The puzzles were unique and did not rely on padlocks much. It was interesting to play this game as the villain as well. The game master was attentive and helpful.

The setting of a dinosaur theme park gone wrong was well done. Each room advanced the story at an even pace. The puzzles were unique to the story and had various degrees of difficulty. The only issue with the room was the feeling of a lack of attentiveness of our game master. We felt that clues were delayed and sometimes not clearly conveyed. Our assumption was that she was running more than one room herself. At the time we went there was a promotion that gave us a discount on frozen yogurt next door. That was great to have after successfully completing the room.

What was good? The theme and overall set design of the room were great. Our initial immersion into the room gave us the feeling we were in an apocalyptic future. After that, it went downhill quick. Most of the puzzles involved locks which in itself a room could still have potential to be good. But figuring out through vague observations in the room what numbers can unlock a padlock does not make for a fun room. There were some non-lock puzzles but even the logic for these was confusing and didn’t make sense. The most frustrating part of our experience was our interaction with our game master. He was great with the initial briefing and leading us to the room. When it came to actual assistance with the game he was inattentive and the clues provided were not helpful. When we requested clues, we went several minutes before we heard from him. Since time is of the essence, this wasn’t particularly helpful. We noticed why this was occurring. We heard through the walls that early on during our game that our game master was briefing another group with another game next door. We could also hear him giving them clues during our game to the folks next door. So we knew our game master was running at least two games simultaneously. This is not acceptable. What we received was infrequent assistance and a lack of detail when we had questions. This location has the potential to have some fun, well themed rooms, but the game master interaction does not make it worth doing. We would not recommend this place to our other escape room enthusiast friends.
