Carnival CrisisClue CollectorsEscape roomIRLA really lovely, fun room with a lot of heart! Can’t wait to see what Clue Collectors come up with next.
The Dark AgesCode to ExitEscape roomIRLThis room looks pretty good and some has some unique puzzles. The overall craftsmanship is lovely and it’s good fun too. Our host had to do a bit of jiggery-pokery at points when things didn’t quite work but it didn’t take away from the experience too much. It has things I haven’t seen before and so for that reason alone I’d say give it a go!
EspionageAdrenaline Escape - AthertonEscape roomIRLWhilst this room had interesting elements, it was most disappointing. Given the quality of escape rooms available these days, to me, a room which needs some TLC isn’t acceptable. Parts of the wallpaper was coming off, the puzzles were pretty lacklustre. A few years ago this may have been worth doing, but these days there are better places to spend your money. I also do have some concerns about the mechanism which involves one player being locked in a cage. I’ve come across similar many times but normally you’re introduced to some kind of safety release in the event of an emergency. In this room the caged person is locked behind two locks, with no safety release as far as I could tell.
The Endless Energy - CLOSEDCode to ExitEscape roomIRLIt’s an interesting concept for a room, which feels like it relies on flashy lights to do some heavy lifting aesthetics wise… unfortunately some of the flashy lights were broken. The room itself is also pretty lackluster in terms of theming and decoration. The puzzles are okay but given what other rooms you could do nearby in Manchester (or even some of the other better rooms at this venue) I’d say spend your hard earned pennies on something else.
Atlantis - CLOSEDThe Escapement BroadstairsEscape roomIRLAn incredible use of space and theming in this room. It’s often that everything aligns perfectly to make the immersion as strong as it is in this room. The attention to detail is excellent and has features I’ve not seen in any of the 140ish rooms I’ve done up until now. This was a thoroughly enjoyable room and it’s easy to see the love and care that has gone into it.
Quartz - CLOSEDThe Escapement BroadstairsEscape roomIRLAn incredibly well designed room, 10/10 for immersion… well… 10/10 for everything actually. A good combination of tricky puzzles and big moments which will leave you in awe at the tech and set design. GM’s were brilliant both in character and out (and also told us it’s the first escape room in the world to have its own soundtrack… f****ing cool.
The OutfittersTulleys Escape RoomEscape roomIRLTulley’s expertise shines through in rooms like this. They take a theme that has been done quite a lot in escape rooms but blow the competition out of the water. In each room including this you get more than you bargained for. The set designs are brilliant, the use of sound and lighting comportments the environment and the use of the space they have is second to none.
SpellCraftTulleys Escape RoomEscape roomIRLOut of the just under 150 rooms I’ve done (at the time of writing) - this is possibly my favourite. The twists and turns it takes you on are wonderful and unexpected. It’s the first room in a long time that’s managed to shock and surprise me when you realise where it’s taking you next. It made me feel the same excitement as your first room. And… I’m not normally a massive fan of wizardy magicy rooms so trust me when I say I adored every second of it.

Into The ReliquaryDarkmaster Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLYou must play this room. It has something I’ve never seen and I’m fairly sure no other room anywhere will have. I cannot describe the child like expression on my face at one point when we realised what we had to do. This is one of the best designed games I’ve ever seen, the atmosphere and environment is incredible. It is a work of art. You must play this room.
Onewing AirlinesDarkmaster Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis has to be one my favourites purely for the design and mechanics. As soon as you step inside as far as your brain is concerned you’re on a plane. 👌 Another brilliant use of comedy by darkmaster in this room, the introduction video is hilarious. Some really unique puzzles which are woven beautifully into the set. One part of the environment is one of the most brilliantly creative things I’ve ever seen in a room and deserves a place in an art gallery somewhere.
Shamley’s Toy MakersDarkmaster Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis is one of the most unique rooms I’ve played as far as set design, puzzles and overall concept is concerned. There are some genuine masterpieces in there which are unmatched. There’s a lot to do and you have to work hard but it’s also the type of room you don’t want to rush though. Take some time to look at the love and attention that’s gone into creating this environment.
Station 108Darkmaster Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLI adored the theming of this room, it really does feel as though you’re there. The use of sfx is incredible, and adds so much to the experience. Also, a great example of how to use humour and comedy in a room perfectly. It’s well placed, weaved brilliantly into the narrative and puzzles but yet doesn’t break the immersion.
Temple QuestClue CrackerEscape roomIRLA classic theme turned up to 11. An incredibly immersive room where the attention to detail is amazing. The puzzles were great with fantastic set pieces and one method of getting between different parts of the room I’ve never seen before and was a lot of fun. Worth travelling to experience this room.
The Diamond Dogs - CLOSEDClue CrackerEscape roomIRLThis game has a lovely unique entrance which sets the immersion off immediately. There’s then a solid progression towards a brilliant ending. As far as “bank heist” rooms go it is up there with the best and if you’re in the area or doing any of their other rooms, it’s worth getting this one under your belt too.
Mega BiteClue CrackerEscape roomIRLNow this is how you make a room like no other. The art style is amazing, the narrative is flawless and the tech that gets used is 10/10. I don’t want to say too much about this room other than DO IT. The less you know going in the better.
Jail Break - CLOSEDClue CrackerEscape roomIRLA good example of taking a theme that’s been done a million times but making sure yours is the best. A really immersive set which goes beyond anything I’ve seen in other escape rooms of the same theme. There was one puzzle involving a radio which I thought was particularly beautiful (but then again I work in radio so I’m biased). A solid room well worth playing.
The DomeMama BazookaEscape roomIRLThis is one of the most incredible experiences I’ve ever had in my life never mind just escape rooms. It’s weird and wonderful and how they pull it off I’ve no idea. Don’t read anything about this room, just go and do it.
