The Forest of FablesCU Adventures in Time and SpaceEscape roomIRLThis room was great, as is expected at Adventures in Time and Space. Every one of their rooms is excellent and has continued to set the bar higher and higher. This room is no exception. The incorporation of the actor in the room was well done without being overbearing. The interactability was fun and it felt like we had agency in how it played out. The theme of the room fit the storyline perfectly. It was very detailed and it was not always clear where the next path was going to lead us. 10/10. If you haven’t done a room here - you are missing out.
Calling All VillainsCU Adventures in Time and SpaceEscape roomIRLThis was our first time at CU Adventures and it was a great experience. Calling All Villains was a very fun and challenging room. The puzzles were just challenging enough without being a time sink and the decor was very thematic. The pace of the room flowed very well and there were several mechanics used that I hadn’t seen elsewhere. Highly recommended.
Jurassic EscapeEscape The Room - ChicagoEscape roomIRLThe theming and decor were very immersive. Some of the puzzles were not very intuitive and there were times that it was clear that we had input the correct solution but it was not clear what happened as a result of it. The flow felt broken up because of that. Overall a cool experience and worth checking out.
Candy ShoppeEscapetown - PeoriaEscape roomIRLThe room fit the theme well. It was a fairly basic room with a lot of locks. The difficulty was not hard at all and is aimed at first timers, which we didn’t know going in. Still a fun room especially for kids.
Mafia HeistMind Trap Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLAll of the rooms at Mindtrap are amazing. The scale of this room is particularly impressive. I’ve never done an escape room with as many different areas as this one. The puzzles were fun and not too challenging. The theming was well done and detailed. Highly recommended.
VampiresMind Trap Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThe room and environment are very well designed. It is a very large space and looks great. A few of the puzzles weren’t as straightforward as it seemed like they should be but still was a very good time.
Escape AnnabelleDeadlock EscapeEscape roomIRLThis room was amazing. It was not very difficult but was challenging enough. The room is built into an actual house and occupies the entire second story so it feels like you are actually exploring an old haunted house. The theming and atmosphere are top notch. It’s not overly scary but definitely has a spooky atmosphere.
Mystery At Skull Cabin - CLOSEDEscapetown - PeoriaEscape roomIRLFun room with a good theme. The puzzles were fun and everything flowed well.
The CollectorMind Trap Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis room is going for a SAW movie theme and nails it. The puzzles were a lot of fun and challenging. There are some very unique and memorable moments in this room that I haven’t seen elsewhere.
Doctor Death Escape RoomMind Trap Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLGreat room with great theme. There is an option for a live actor and it adds to the experience.
Wizard AcademyEscape 60 PeoriaEscape roomIRLThis room was fun but parts of it do seem to come from a kit as we had seen identical props/puzzles at a different location we had previously done. Still a good overall experience.
Medieval MadnessPanIQ Room - Logan SquareEscape roomIRLThis room was very unique and the puzzles were all well integrated into the environment. There were not any padlocks or combinations, the puzzles were all very dynamic. There were a few points where it wasn’t clear what was needing to be done but overall it did flow well.
Locked-Up SupermaxMind Trap Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis was a very realistic prison escape simulation. The theming was excellent and really felt like a prison escape. Highly recommended if the theme seems appealing to you.
Storm SurgeMind Trap Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLI wanted to love this room more than I did. The theming and detail is spectacular. They did a great job setting up the room. There were several puzzles that were very finicky where we knew the solution but dialing them in was just not working. We were very discouraged at knowing the solution but wasting so much time trying to get it to work. Still an experience worth doing if you’ve done the other rooms at Mindtrap. It is probably their weakest room but they set the bar so high that it’s still worth seeing.
Pharaoh's ChamberMind Trap Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis room is very immersive and had some very clever puzzles. Very family friendly.
Help! We Got Shrunk!Escape 60 PeoriaEscape roomIRLThis is a very unique theme and was implemented very well. The large props fit the theme and made the puzzles unique. Definitely recommend.
The Starlight Diner - CLOSEDPsych Escape RoomEscape roomIRLThe room was designed to look like an old diner and it worked well. The scope of the room was kind of small but it flowed well and we had a good time. There wasn’t anything particularly novel about the room but It’s worth checking out if you’re in the area.
The Lake House - CLOSEDPsych Escape RoomEscape roomIRLThis was a fun room. It is smaller in scale but we had a good time. The puzzles flowed well and we never felt like we hit a dead end. There was not anything particularly unique about this room but it’s worth checking out.
The KidnappingBreakout Games - AtlantaEscape roomIRLThis room has a unique start to it. The puzzles flowed well from one to the next and we never really felt stuck. Would recommend.
