Le Chant des Naufragés [The Call of the Stranded]SOS Aventures - Quebec CityEscape roomIRLThe room looked pretty and there was exactly one puzzle that I enjoyed. Beyond that, there was a lot of unclear signposting and tech that didn’t want to trigger or doors that silently popped open so we didn’t know we had solved something. I try not to give thumbs down ratings but this game just really rubbed me the wrong way.
The Restless Spirit of Abigail RoseChoice EscapesEscape roomIRLReally satisfying for a first game from a new company. Enjoyed the puzzles and the atmosphere was nice. Sean was really sweet and helpful throughout the experience. Can’t wait to see the next games from here :)
The Man From BeyondStrange Bird ImmersiveEscape roomIRLWhat can I even say that hasn’t already been said? This was a phenomenal experience from beginning to end. I have nothing negative to say. Eternally grateful that they were able to accommodate us on such short notice.
Barrel of LiesMission: Breakout LafayetteEscape roomIRLI really enjoyed this game. Aside from a couple small blunders on our part for not finding a hidden thing, the puzzles flowed very nicely and were fun to work through. I enjoyed that the puzzles fit the world of the game and progressed the story as opposed to just solving a series of unrelated puzzles in a themed room.
OlympusMission: Breakout LafayetteEscape roomIRLI was really impressed by this room. I think the set looked wonderful and this game had some great puzzles that encouraged team work. It’s nice to have puzzles that are better to have two or three people working in tandem as opposed to one person soloing (although you could if you wanted to I suppose). There was also one puzzle involving sun dials that I LOVED and it’s probably my standout singular puzzle from the whole day of puzzling. My only gripe with this room was one puzzle in the final room missing some kind of signposting that would make it make more sense. We knew what all of the pieces were but we just struggled to take that puzzle across the finish line without some help. With the exception of that one puzzle though, I thought this was a really great game. :)
Sherlock VS The RipperMission: Breakout LafayetteEscape roomIRLOverall I would say I enjoyed this game. Of the three we played (Barrel of Lies and Olympus being the others) I would say this is the weakest of the three but it was far from being a bad game. We were a little mentally drained by the time we got into the room so we weren’t as thorough in searching for potential hidden clues which cost us some time but luckily the owner Eric and our GM Autumn helped us through those rough spots so we could get back to the puzzles pretty quickly. They were both really awesome and helped make our trip special!
Henchmen’s HeistThe Nemesis ClubEscape roomIRLI definitely think this is the weakest of their three games. Definitely not bad but there were a lot of puzzles that felt disconnected or like they lacked some logic behind them. Beautiful set and theatrics but lacking the puzzle design that their other games have. I’d still recommend it though. I am being critical.
Candy Cane ConundrumPortland Escape RoomsEscape roomIRLThis game was really cute and provided a charming experience. None of the puzzles were overly complicated but everything fit the theme which was nice. Mitchel was a great game master!
Ghost PatrolTrivium GamesEscape roomIRLI don’t think there is anything I can say that hasn’t already been said about this game. Ghost Patrol is the closest thing to a “perfect” escape room that I have ever played. I have zero notes and that’s truly saying something. LOVED this game! 👻🚀
RobotopiaOmescape - SunnyvaleEscape roomIRLAn absolutely stellar game that lives up to the hype. My only regret was doing this one as my third in the day so my brain was already tired from the jump. But this game had a lot of really fun set pieces and puzzles that made for a truly unique experience. Great use of space and the ever changing nature of the set blew my mind! Can’t say enough good things about this game!
UndercookedOmescape - SunnyvaleEscape roomIRLCan’t say enough wonderful things about this game. It was truly a challenge for 5 VERY experienced players which made for a frantic but refreshing experience. It has been a long time since I have had such high energy levels in a game. I am shocked that we were able to complete it all literally down to the last second but I’m so proud of my awesome group for making it happen. This game is easily in my top 5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Ronnie’s HouseNW Escape ExperienceEscape roomIRLA fun spooky game that was filled with a lot of interesting puzzles. There was a couple of elements that weren’t necessarily my jam but overall it was a fun experience. Birdie was a great game master! And we were super excited to learn we beat the record for the fastest escape time!
Operation: D.B. CooperNW Escape ExperienceEscape roomIRLOverall an okay game. Nothing awful but also nothing overly amazing. I enjoyed my experience overall but I wouldn’t say this game is a must do. The staff were amazing though! Austin and Lizzie were amazing ❤️
Polybius Lives - CLOSEDNW Escape ExperienceEscape roomIRLGlad I got to play this game before it gets closed down later this week. We had a lot of fun in this game and it will be missed! Birdie and Lizzie were phenomenal!
Dead Man's Cove - CLOSEDEntangled - LynnwoodEscape roomIRLOverall had a fun time in this game. It has a dense puzzle flow that kept 3 very experienced players working through most of it but I can see how it might be too much game for some players. Nothing felt unfair and most things were satisfying and enjoyable. If I had any criticisms, it would be that the room felt quite dark and the music was a bit too loud to easily hear my teammates. Both of these things (we were told after) are things that they could have tweaked but it’s not something that we were made aware of before the game. I also wish there were some better signposting for where certain keys/codes were meant to be used because it isn’t super fun to get a key and wonder which of the 5 key locks it goes to. I did notice they used some color coding…but that only helps you so much in a game that is dimly lit. Overall though, I had a good time. Our game master Toby was a delight and went above and beyond with our group, totally becoming the best part of our experience if I’m being honest. There was some great banter with the parrot 😁
The 4 Dreams4 DreamsEscape roomIRLI feel like this experience undermines everything that makes escape rooms enjoyable. The set design is good enough through most of it but the puzzles themselves ranged from unfair to uninteresting. None of the puzzles in any of the rooms felt satisfying to work on or completed and didn’t really reinforced/drive the story. At the end, the only prize you got from completing a puzzle is that you no longer had to work on the puzzle anymore. It is clear that player experience is not a priority for the owners of this place as I am aware of several people in the community voicing concerns since they opened and seemingly none of those concerns have been addressed. It’s my opinion that their main goal with this style of game is to push as many bodies through the game as possible to make as much money as they can off of it and it’s really hard for me to support that unless you also provide a player experience that makes up for it. I sincerely hope that the owners start to take the feedback they’ve been getting more seriously because I hate leaving such a negative review on a game, but honestly, that’s just where I am at with this one. With all of that being said, our GM (I think Ash?) was lovely and did their absolute best to get us hyped before and after the game and I appreciate their dedication to their role.
Super SecretNew Mexico Escape Room - McLeod LocationEscape roomIRLIt’s rare to find a cute and light hearted game like this. Wonderful theming and wonderful puzzles. They used the space really well. Super happy with my experience.
Duel at DuskNew Mexico Escape Room - McLeod LocationEscape roomIRLThis was a very fine game. A few interested puzzles that I hadn’t quite seen before but those also weren’t so interesting to make this a standout experience. I do want to make it clear, it definitely wasn’t bad! I had fun! But I just wasn’t wowed like all of their other games.
Nefertari's TombNew Mexico Escape Room - McLeod LocationEscape roomIRLI have very mixed feelings about this game because there were quite a few puzzles I really enjoyed and also quite a few that I thought were needlessly difficult. There’s quite a few accessibility issues which make the game difficult for people even without those accessibility needs and that definitely turned me off to a handful of the puzzles. This seems like one of those games that’s like…hard but for the wrong reasons if that makes sense? Its clear from the other reviews that a lot of people have voiced similar opinions and it’s weird that the owners aren’t addressing them because this game has a much different vibe than the rest for those reasons. Overall I had a good time…but it could have been a great time and it just wasn’t.
The Cabin 2.0New Mexico Escape Room - McLeod LocationEscape roomIRLVery impressed by this game. Not usually into scary/spooky games but I think that the scares really added to the ambiance. The set was fantastic. The puzzles were all satisfying and had a huge standout puzzle to me that I was very impressed with. Amazing experience. Also our GM Mariah was AMAZING.
