Cornstalkers: Lost in the MaizeThe Escape Ventures - OrlandoEscape roomIRLFantastic experience! Escape ventures always has incredible rooms and actors, and cornstalkers was no deviation. Michael was just as integral to the experience as the meticulously designed and implemented rooms. Beautiful set design and moderate difficulty puzzles led to an immersive and joyous experience with the perfect amount of “scare”, without being overwhelming. While this is “scary”, their goal is not to make you scared, it’s to have a good time. My wife doesn’t enjoy scary experiences and this was the perfect amount. The team is great about listening to concerns and modifying for specific needs without detracting from the game. These people are pros, they think about everything.
Bros for Life: Fraternity HeistThe Escape Ventures - OrlandoEscape roomIRLVery awesome room and James was hilarious. 10/10 for James. Had a team of just two, which didn’t impact the flow or experience. It’s one of the tougher rooms, but not discouraging for idiots! Between my wife and I that day, we had negative brainpower… but sometimes that just happens! While we weren’t “on”, we still had a ton of fun and truly had a great experience. Despite a bit of disappointment in our poor communication and brain rot, James’ hilarity and the great team at escape ventures made this a joyous experience.
PlaygroundThe Escape Game - NYC (Midtown)Escape roomIRLVery fun room! None of the puzzles were particularly difficult, but there are a massive amount of them. The shear number of puzzles is what would make this difficult with a small number of players. The Escape Game always fills up spots with strangers and unfortunately the Monday afternoon we chose had 7 people added just before the game started. Their rooms are solid, but the experience is hit or miss due to this. We ended up with a couple people who weren’t all that great with teamwork and had “give me that” personalities, but we still had fun.
Montauk ProjectMyssTic RoomsEscape roomIRLGreat game with a unique set. Four of us escaped way faster than we wanted to, but that’s likely just luck. MyssTic really does a phenomenal job creating an immersive environment. Such a great experience.
The ArchitectSherlockedEscape roomIRLHad a great time with just two people! It’s a very nice large space. Solvable with two people who have a decent amount of experience. My wife and I went in expecting to utilize clues and prepared to not finish, since we’ve never done anything by ourselves. We were able to solve it with a few clues, however, our time ran out as we were on the last puzzle and our host let us finish, which was really kind of her.
The ExhibitDaytona Escape Room ExperienceEscape roomIRLMitchell was so nice, without him, I’m not sure how much we would have enjoyed it. My wife and I have done around 20 rooms, but we’re not really the best; just something we enjoy doing to spend time together. In comparison to other experiences, it was average overall. Some things fun, others monotonous, it had a theme but not a story. There were some mechanical issues, but Mitchell was quick about handling them.
The Clock TowerEscape The Room - ManhattanEscape roomIRLThis would’ve been great if everything were not broken when we went. It’s a really cool room with fun puzzles… if they weren’t all broken. It had to have been at least 25% of the puzzles with issues. We’d ask for clues and we’d keep getting them for things already solved, but the trigger failed. Many things ultimately manually triggered by the host and one of the last clues was “you already solved that, just reach up and behind this thing and pull it out cause it’s supposed to fall” They might have fixed things since I went in 2023, but I was pretty sad with the state of the room.
Doctor FrankensteinKomnata QuestEscape roomIRLA fun, average game. My wife and I solved it in ~50 minutes. Nice set, flowed well, average number of design/equipment issues. We used one “clue”, though the clue was simply due to us not having great eyesight (small + dim lighting).
