Servants of SleightThe Escape Ventures - Clearwater [prev. The Exit Games]Escape roomIRLA non-linear room that can accommodate larger groups, so that was really nice. The decoration is good, but not fully immersive. For an older room, this is what we expected, and it was totally fine. For the most part, the puzzles were really fun, although there were times when you would solve a puzzle and then need to try it in several places.
MagnificoEscaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLWorth it! It is clear why this is so highly rated. The acting was superb, the set is huge and beautiful and so detailed, the puzzles were a lot of fun as well. There were so many wow moments, and one element I have never seen in an escape room. The story was so important to this room, and I love how it unraveled throughout the experience. Each step we took mattered and each puzzles led the story forward. I want to go back and take all my friends to experience this. Bravo!
Der Spielzeugmacher [Toy Maker]Big Break HamburgEscape roomIRLThe design was beautiful, and there were a couple “wow” moments as well. A high tech room with some varied puzzles as well. Definitely in the top rooms I have visited.
La Cathédrale Oubliée [The Forgotten Cathedral]Escaparium - LavalEscape roomIRLWe had a slow start due to some glitchy tech, but then everything went super smoothly to the end. There were many cool effects that fit perfectly into the story, and didn’t feel like gimmicks. The set was so beautiful and detailed. The puzzles were on theme, with some good collaborative puzzles as well. And so many small details that really pushed this one from good to great for me.
Opuszczony Hotel [Abandoned Hotel]Exit19.plEscape roomIRLThis has definitely made it into my top 5. The perfect amount of tension without being actively horror, great set design, and awesome puzzles. They have used the space so well, and we were surprised with each new space. The use of the actor was perfect, and an integral part to the story (not a scare gimmick). Find a way to do this room if you’re ever close!
Metropolis 2099Dream LabsEscape roomIRLWe really enjoyed this one. The decoration was beautiful and very immersive. There were a couple wow moments that really showed a great attention to detail. The story was great, but at times audio (which was important to the story) would begin suddenly, and we missed a few things. We really liked the puzzles, but we wished there were more. Some rooms were so beautifully decorated, with such detail, but then you would leave after a short time. We wished we could have stayed for longer! ;)
LondiumLondium Escape RoomEscape roomIRLWowowow. This is probably the most beautiful room I have played until now, with a rather large playing area. The puzzles were also a lot of fun, with a nice mixture of puzzle types. What the owner has created is very impressive I now need to return so I can admire all the details.
Dark LullabyEscape Artist Greenville - Hampton StationEscape roomIRLWe did this as part of the full Chimera Corp Saga, and it was our favourite! It was the perfect combination of scary, but not so much tension that you couldn't focus on the puzzles. There were some minor jump scares, but there were clear down times when you could focus on the puzzles and the story. The acting was great, and there were some nice humour moments spread throughout to break the tension as well. The decoration was really well done, and there is a cool effect in the last room that we loved. The puzzles were also fun and creative, with some layers puzzles as well. I love it when a room has a great story/acting but not to the detriment of great puzzling. If you are a scaredy cat (like I am) do not shy away from this room. It is great!
Kaleidoskop 1963 [Kaleidoscope 1963]Time MazeEscape roomIRLTalk about a room where you have no idea where it’s going, but you are 100% along for the ride. Great, large design, and a little bit of Swiss history as well.
Die Legende vom herzlosen Piraten [The Tale of the Heartless Pirate]Dream LabsEscape roomIRLWe liked this room less than Metropolis, but we still enjoyed it. An important detail of this room is that it is based on a video game called Monkey Island and it has a “point-and-click” style play. You need to explore, try things, and interact with the characters in the room. This is something we wished we had known going in. Also, it is good to know this is a great room for beginners. A lot of the riddles to solve are implied by the role play, so don’t expect difficult riddle solving. I have seen some harsh reviews on this, but it is the style of the game. The rooms also have great detail, and there is a lot of humour throughout. It is a completely different style to their other room, so I think Dream Labs has something for everyone!
